If you are a full time employee your notice period would be three month of working full time.

If you are a part time employee your notice period would be three month of working part time.

Notice period just means "you will continue working as before for XXX amount of time". So if your contract says 3 months, 3 months it is.

If that's too long for your liking, you can certainly try to negotiate this down. Your notice period can be whatever you and your employer agree to. Most employers are amenable to that, since people who really don't want to be there anymore are not the most motivated employees. Having someone keeping a chair warm just to run down the clock isn't all that helpful for anyone.

CAVEAT: This is NOT legal advice, if you want that talk to an employment lawyer who is familiar with your local labor laws and can read your employment contract in all it's glorious detail.
