A farewell on an internal email or Slack might have been appropriate, but I assume your access there was being quietly revoked while you were getting the bad news. But on LinkedIn, and any other similar public place? By sending farewells when you clearly haven't got another job (or alternative path in life) lined up, you're advertising to potential future employers that your departure was not your choice, and that can only hurt your search for future employment.
