This app is so inaccurate if you are of south asian or African descent. It clearly is catered towards Europeans. Spend the extra money to do ancestry dna.

Dear MyHeritage Team,
I am writing to provide honest feedback regarding my recent DNA ethnicity results because the outcome is extremely disappointing and frankly not credible when compared with other major testing companies.
My results currently show 81% Nigerian, with a total of about 85% African ancestry. This is not consistent with my genetic profile as confirmed by multiple independent DNA testing platforms. Both AncestryDNA and 23andMe place my African ancestry around 70–72%, and both companies detect Indigenous American ancestry in my genome as well. Your model failed to detect that ancestry entirely.
When two of the largest and most well established autosomal DNA companies produce nearly identical results, but a third company produces numbers that are dramatically inflated and missing entire ancestry components, it raises serious concerns about the reliability of the algorithm.
The result suggesting that I am 81% Nigerian is particularly unrealistic. Nigeria itself contains hundreds of ethnic groups and even individuals born in Nigeria typically show mixed West African regional signals in their DNA results. Reducing such a complex West African genetic background into a single extremely high Nigerian percentage suggests that the model is oversimplifying or misclassifying African ancestry rather than accurately interpreting it.
This issue appears to affect people with admixed backgrounds, particularly Black Americans and other populations with diverse ancestry. Many users have reported similar experiences where West African ancestry is heavily collapsed into a single Nigerian category while other regions are ignored. Additionally, the complete absence of Indigenous American ancestry in my report contradicts consistent findings from other companies and from chromosome-level analysis.
I understand that ethnicity estimates are statistical models, but the current results do not reflect the level of accuracy expected from a modern DNA testing service. At the moment, the ethnicity model appears to struggle significantly with mixed ancestry profiles.
I am sharing this feedback in the hope that MyHeritage will improve its ethnicity models, particularly for individuals with admixed ancestry backgrounds because as of now it’s not where it needs to be, and I can’t recommend a company like yours who just doesn’t get it right.

The contact buttons simply don’t work. I spent a lot of time trying to find a way to contact support. And the only way to contact them is by email, and only the AI, the answering machine, responds.
They took my subscription money and didn’t even warn me in advance, like all other companies.

I use a few different web sites, to build my tree. I got used to this one first, and find it very thorough but not usually too difficult. Not perfect, but none of them are. They are continually adding to their database, and have created some unique technology features.

My kit wasn’t even delivered to me and was returned back. I waited a while and they haven’t contacted me regarding my refund. Canceling a subscription is practically impossible. If u wanna waste money, this is a great way to do it!!!

IT support is not supportive. DNA kit was bought and proceeded, account was locked and support does not respond and does not help to recover accesses. Ridiculous

i am u able to contact support and have been in an automated loop in the help center that never allows me to submit a request, email, or chat. MH told me my test was being analyzed with whole genome processing but the file shows it’s only an 600,000-700,000 SNP raw data.

I have used Ancestry for many years had I started with MyHeritage I’d not have gone any further with Ancestry. Both are comparable and I do like both. MyHeritage is somewhat “prettier” in presentation. 😃👍🏻

They have no customer support to assist you. I have been going back with customer support through email for almost a month now with no resolution. They provide copy and paste answers and when you ask for a phone call they do not call. When you make an account it provides you with some random email and you are unable to change it and then you can’t change it due to security reasons. They then send you emails through this unknown email that they created and you just wasted however much money on the kit and then on the subscription. This is a scam.
