Hi, apologies if this is an inappropriate venue for this question as it is not a bug but an RFI comment of sorts.
I was really excited at first and then noted the issues you have with sustained long distance launch. While it looks cool this struck me a bit odd I had an idea for a positive use. Is there a possibility to make this into a safety device? A way to send a line/floatation from a saving ship to a "rescuee"? Badish weather, not all rescue personnel are that able, currents can drag a person out more than a ship sometimes.
The distance though would need some serious work for time and some power added though. There is plenty online in old rocket hobbyist forums and text books that can improve that.
All naval ships that I know of have a similar issue and there are basic developed "triggers" out there that would detect water fall that could in theory deploy a self inflating device with a minor low power SAR beacon and straps. Possibly making cheaper mass rescue devices possible.
I have been in some nasty weather (even where this would NOT ever work.... dang storm bent up the bow upwards).
But those are the extremes. Most services around the planet still use old manual arm throws. Maybe that is good enough. But there are times when it is not. I don't know. It feels like there is potential. Yeah some services have launch guns for monkey fists as they are called but I am not aware of stuff just for survival. A survival unit for deploying some rescue items se...
