The solvents, traditionally employed in the industrially applied methods for the selective purification of oil fractions (furfural, N-methyl pyrrolidone -NMP, morpholine, sulfolane, etc.) are volatile, toxic, has corrosive nature and relatively low selectivity. These limitations highlight the urgent need for new approaches to the purification of petroleum distillates to ensure the production of high-quality fuels and oils while minimizing environmental impact. The use of ionic-liquid compounds as selective solvents for the extraction purification of petroleum distillates has garnered significant scientific and practical interest.Owing to their unique combination of properties including negligible volatility, low vapor pressure, high chemical and thermal stability, strong solvating ability across various compound classes, and superior selectivity role in the development of environmentally sustainable synthesis and refining processes. The objective of this study is to produce high-quality oils and fuels for diverse applications by employing ionic liquids synthesized from formic and acetic acids as selective solvents.Through systematic experimentation, optimal conditions for the extraction-based purification of different types of petroleum feedstocks such as diesel distillates, transformer oil, medicinal Naftalan oil, lubricating distillates, and kerosene have been identified. The study demonstrates the effectiveness and potential of ionic-liquid extraction as an environmentally friendly and economically viable method for the deep purification of petroleum fractions.
