Love this app so much. I’m not going to like, it was overwhelming to get started but after a few months it became easy and is actually really fun and productive. I’m working with the same money I was making before but now that I am budgeting ahead of time the normal expenses aren’t as stressful as they used to be. I love the mental shift. 10/10 recommend.

I’ve been using YNAB for nearly 20 years, from their early days as a computer program to today, as a well-integrated phone app and site. They are knowledgeable and worth every penny!

They should focus on making the UX better and aligning with the desktop web version

Have used YNAB since YNAB 4. Have made it through all of the updates and changes ok. But the Home Screen makes no sense to me. (And even less idea why the spending tab exists) I can’t find a purpose for it in my flow. Supposedly it is to make it more intuitive, I don’t need “more” intuitive, I need three tabs: plan, accounts, and reflect.
Give the option to hide the home and spending tabs. And no matter what make an option to get rid of the red dot beside the home tab. I know that I have transactions to categorize. I will take care of them on my schedule.
New users that import all of their banking may benefit from these changes. Old hands who manually enter everything seem to be finding them to be annoying and in the way.
Also, the “fix” to have the app
Open to the last used tab doesn’t work. I get the home tab smacking me in the face every time.
My fix for this is to minimize my use of the app and just use the website. It works, but there are times the app would be useful to use, and I find myself skipping transactions just to wait until I am at my computer.

YNAB charged me for a subscription I didn’t sign up for. I never even opened it or used it beyond the day I downloaded it and didn’t even finish setting it up- so I asked for a refund and was denied. An app that’s supposed to help you save money instead took money from me. I’m so over every single app being a subscription now. Do not recommend.

I was skeptical that paying for a budget app would save me money, but I was wrong. 40 years ago my husband and I used the envelope system to budget. It worked great until debit cards, credit cards, and online bill pay. My budget was destroyed because I couldn’t figure out how to convert my envelopes to digital.
For the last 25-30 years we have dipped into savings to pay a bill or expense. Today was the first time I paid all the bills and had money left in the bank. The amount of money budgeted is half of what I actually spent this month! Half! It used to take me one to two days a month to reconcile our accounts to pay our bills. It took me exactly the amount of time to percolate one pot of coffee on the stove!
Opening the YNAB app each morning, assigning money in and money out into categories each morning, makes my desire to spend money lower. I have less anxiety seeing my money waiting for its duty assignment. This is really life changing.
There was a bit of a learning curve for me because I need things really dumbed down when it comes to numbers. All the YNAB videos are great and beneficial but, after three resets of my plan I looked on YouTube for help and found Nick True from Mapped out Money. He is the one that helped my brain move my envelopes to digital and make sense of it.
I highly recommend this app and with a 34 day free trial, it gives you plenty of time to get the hang of it.

Taking the time to learn how to use this app and track my spending has changed my life.

Multi-budget tracking. Sharing with family via independent access/accounts. Complex budgeting tools. Reliable transaction sync and simple manual entry. Great tutorials and articles. No ads.
The only thing it doesn’t have is automatic tracking of asset values and retirement/investment accounts.
Get it, you won’t regret it.

Been using for many years.
I still like it but I get frustrated bc it quit importing automatically my credit card
Transactions. They said mine wasn’t on the list anymore. Little frustrating. I have to do it manually which can’t do on my phone. Either get out laptop or iPad. Doing it on the iPad is cumbersome. Need to have an easier way to import transactions manually

There is truly no other budgeting app as good as this one. I can consolidate all of my financial thoughts within this app. I am able to plan a month ahead and plan for emergency situations effectively and efficiently. Their support team is also top notch. I recently had a question and they responded within 5 MINUTES. I also have to give a shout out to Blair for being the kindest support specialist ever. Anyways, I would fully recommend this to anyone and everyone -a 22 year old just trying to budget

I have been using YNAB for over 2 years now and I love it. This program makes it so much easier for me to keep track of all my bills, daily expenses, and things I want to save for. It took a little getting used to in the first month or so but once I got it down it was so easy.

It’s like an electronic envelope system that let’s you put money away in the envelopes you assign, then as the expenses come you use the money you set aside to pay for it … no surprises, you can actually plan for the future and pay for expenses with money you have set aside. Imagine having money set aside for vacations, christmas, birthdays … no surprises!

YNAB has changed my life. At any moment I know how much money I have, not just a bank balance, but how much of that balance is already committed. Automatic transaction download from the bank and credit cards has a bit of a learning curve, but is so worth it. And I love the training videos from Hannah!. Keep it up.

YNAB changed my relationship with money. I’ve gone from scared to open my checking account and credit card statements and significant debt to paying off my credit card and increasing my net worth 150% — while still eating out, taking vacations, and paying cash for everything. I can not say enough good things about this app. Thank you YNAB team 💜💰

We needed a way to save money as we went through chiro school without losing the opportunity for interest in our high yield savings. This gave us that ability. Helped us save nearly $40,000
Analissa89 • Apr 17, 2026
YNAB has exponentially increased my ability to understand my finances. It’s helped my husband and I have more strategic conversations about our finances. We recently had to make a somewhat unexpected car purchase and I was able to identify where I could finance that and paid for the car in cash and felt comfortable doing. That’s a game changer for us.
I feel like this platform is one of the most impactful tools that I’ve ever used and I’m excited to continue my financial journey with YNAB.

The most frustrating app I’ve ever used. I couldn’t get it even with ChatGPT’s help.
Beennn100 • Apr 16, 2026
I have so many problems with this app. The biggest being that I am spending money on this app and the features I pay for do not work. Namely, any feature that requires connection to my bank account. For about half the time I’ve been paying for this app (4 months) my bank account activity would take over a week to update. But for weeks now, YNAB will not even connect to my bank account. I also find the interface quite awkward and unintuitive to use. It’s the type of thing you’ll probably need YouTube tutorials to understand.
