iTunes Remote is the best way to control Apple Music, iTunes, or the Apple TV app from anywhere in your home. Simply download the app to your iPhone or iPad, and connect directly to Apple Music, iTunes, or the Apple TV app on your Mac or PC. With iTunes Remote you can: • Access your Apple Music, Apple TV, or iTunes libraries • Browse music by artist, albums, and songs • Browse movies, TV shows, and podcasts • Create and edit playlists • See upcoming songs with Up Next • Search your entire Apple Music, Apple TV, or iTunes libraries • Explore shared Apple Music, Apple TV, or iTunes libraries • Listen with AirPlay • Send music to AirPlay speakers • Group speakers together to play music in multiple rooms at the same time • Set the volume on each speaker independently Requirements: • iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 11.4 or later • Wi-Fi connection to Apple TV, Apple Music, or iTunes on a Mac or PC • macOS 10.15.2 or higher for Apple Music and the Apple TV app • iTunes 12.8 or later is recommended for use with iTunes Remote

I would love to see this updated to be a true remote for the Music App.

All too frequently I need to login to the network with iTunes for Home Sharing

I use my old Mac as a media player plugged in to my stereo system, and this app bypasses the need for a display to play Apple Music.

I have always loved this app for two main reasons. Adjusting AirPlay speakers throughout my house AND rating songs to build playlists. Let’s bring this back to the Watch as it used to be. Easy feature

It’s great to be able to control the music playing on my large library on my Mac from my phone. But a fair few of the controls don’t work reliably or are hard to find in long-press menus. Want to listen to a whole album by a particular artist? It doesn’t seem to work from artist view, only album view. And sometimes “Add to Up Next” just refuses to work (maybe this is a problem in Music.app?).

Works but would be cool if I could add songs to my playlist

This app has been great for years recently as in like the last month or so I am unable to add songs to the queue via the app. Please fix.

Just almost controls music play at the most basic level on a computer from your phone. As long as all you want is one song to play and then completely fail to ever advance to the next song it works brilliantly. The one work around is putting it into shuffle mode. Not that the shuffle icon gives you even the tiniest little feedback other than that you get the joy of more than a single song playing at a time So very elegant in its unhelpful simplicity.

The play next feature is no longer working.

I want lossless audio and Apple makes it unnecessarily difficult. I ended up replacing my Apple TV, which supports complete control of Apple Music with my iPhone, with a Mac Mini, USB s/pdif DAC and this crippled iTunes remote. I only have access to my local library, no streaming unless I use the Mac’s keyboard and mouse. Suboptimal at best. Way to go, Apple.

It’s functional but Spotify makes it a lot easier.

Unfortunately the play next and play later functionality has been broken in the remote app. I hope they are able to fix this.

Amazing app that needs some programming updating to be a serious music ecosystem. It lets you control music from iTunes from your phone, and we play music from a Mac mini connected to a stereo and three HomePods and even a 2003 AirPort Express. It has been around for years, and is very bare bones, and has regular connectivity issues. I don’t want feature bloat, but it is too bare bones. Appreciate the work keeping it current with OS updates, but…you know ;)

Catalina broke this. Can’t add music to up next and so many other problems. Please update this Apple.

It should be Music Remote since Apple rebranded iTunes

Since learning of this app’s existence through a chat bot, I’ve wondered why I’ve not solved for this use case earlier. It makes me wish I knew about its capability when I was designing my home office’s 2.1 system. I repurposed a 2015 MacBook Prp that my kids never use as my Apple Music player. Because the early 2015 MBP has optical out within the headphone jack (mini-toslink) I bought a cable and ran it to my receiver which then connects to a pair of bookshelf’s and a sub. I love being able to launch into a new playlist without having to get up. Might try to figure out some automations next. The most glaring opportunity is including a search option to be able to find and play music, or maybe Siri to play music on the device being controlled. Great app otherwise.

Worked great until the Mac hosting Apple Music server upgraded to macOS 26 Tahoe. Afterwards many bugs the worst being the player stops after one song. Many users have reported problem but unfixed 6 months after release. If you use iPhone or iPad to play music stored on your Mac this is a showstopper. The only fix at present is to downgrade your Mac.

This app hasn’t been updated to be compatible with the current iOS and OS and as such is no longer fully functional. It’ll play one song from the app and that’s it. It doesn’t load next songs into a queue.

ThisI needs a team to revamp it. I wish it felt and worked like Roon. Or integrated into Apple Music, I use my Mac mini as a streamer and server and it feels a little inconvenient to go between two apps, especially when one of them has not been updated in years.

If this was a third party app Apple would have made it unavailable since it hasn’t been updated in 5 years. Please update this app to work with current versions of Apple Music, it barely functions currently.
