You literally cannot do anything until you purchase the subscription. No free features whatsoever, not even viewing or editing files.
rkostin • Jun 13, 2026
The app should not interrupt me with a request to read it while I’m trying to use it
Gidsghrybfshjcv • Jun 12, 2026
There is no free version of this app without a subscription fee. Meanwhile Notepad++ and VS Code, both completely outperform this app, are free. There is no reason to charge for this.

I've tried all the code editors for iPad, and Textastic is definitely the best.

I use the app to update my website from my iPad Pro. With web preview and SFTP built in, it's almost easier than working on my MacBook.

Keep up the great work!

Downloaded the app thinking it was free, but you have to pay to use the app, you can’t create or edit files without paying :( sadly misleading
No monthly sub • Jun 2, 2026
Unless I am doing something wrong, simple editing does not work without subscription.

I don’t need any application bad enough to have monthly subscriptions.

Monthly subscriptions are not a good business model for the general public use.

Can’t make a single text file without paying LOL! Uninstalled

Requires subscription for making files bruh
dchmike • May 28, 2026
The free version is only a placeholder. It cannot even read text files, let alone edit. Label it honestly with the $19.99 price tag.
Uthranuil • May 25, 2026
If I can download this app for free, you should let me try it for free. Just one day. Waste of my time.
CJKuhlenbeck • Apr 30, 2026
I’ve never deleted an app so fast. Don’t waste your time
jbotrad • Apr 6, 2026
Super useful app with some great features. Everything is locked behind a paywall though, even basic features like viewing. So be prepared to shell out a few bucks.

A waste of my time. You bite
BeSnOwl • Mar 26, 2026
I have to edit a lot of plaintext files (.TXT, .MD, .HTML, .CSS, .JS, .JSON, .CSV, ETC) and Textastic makes it so i can do it on my iPad now. It works great and it works seamlessly. Highly recommend for text editing on an iPad. Five stars.
