Letterboxd

Such a great app and concept. The UI is so horrible. This has to be the least intuitive app I’ve ever used. I understand it is feature-packed, but not a single button or menu is where you think it should be. Simple functions like changing your avatar are buried under never used buttons. An improved UI would make this app one of my favorites.

Well designed and easy to use

Due to my new found egarness to start a hate page for movies. I found myself becoming a Letterboxd hater. The login in process was so long and extensive. I didn’t even get a chance to experience the app before things went down hill. Shame on Letterboxd

started using in jan 2026 and it’s very useful. helped me get into movies and appreciate them more. can keep things organized and neat. only problem is the app keeps crashing frequently. they fix it eventually but it gets annoying. overall i love this and use it all the time.

didn’t care for movies until I downloaded Letterboxd—now I’m a cinephile through and through!!! This app is a stronger drug than heroin

This encouraged me to watch more movies and explore the world of cinema and finding new movies to watch

Please add tv series and high ranked shows and series

Letterboxd I love you thank you for adding the feature to save reviews even if you exit them I don’t know how many times I’ve had to rewrite my reviews for it to glitch and crash and make me start over. Best new feature ever!!!

I've had this app for years and it has CONSISTENTLY logged me out. Just came on to upload my reviews for movies I just watched only to find that, not only was I logged out from my account, AGAIN. BUT all of my stuff, reviews, lists, watchlist, gone. Genuinely upset and have no idea how or why this could've happened. Disappointed to say the least.

Absolutely amazing easy way to track the films you love and explore more and a amazing way to communicate with others who have the same passion as you. My only complaint is there is not a recommendation tab for films you have watched and when people comment on your review you can’t directly reply back to them. But besides that it’s my favorite app ever.

Letterboxd is cool. It’s one of the few “social” media apps I actually use and I use it a lot. However, please stop sending me blog posts and articles and actually update the app to include user requested features and stability. I say this with the utmost love. Letterboxd has been around long enough to be considered a mature platform and yet still lacks basic features present on all other social platforms: privacy features, direct message functionality, etc. Many of which were announced over a year ago and have yet to come to fruition. There is also a litany of awesome film related user requests that seem to have been ignored, meanwhile all of the energy seems to go toward blog posts and email blasts. Those features are great but seem like they should be supplementary or secondary. Can we no longer see the forest through the trees? Has the plot been lost?

As a film logging/sharing platform Letterboxd is still unrivaled but that’s increasingly becoming not enough to warrant paying for a Pro or Patron account and wondering where my coins are going. Still, it is deserving of 3 stars which could have easily been a solid 5. I love Letterboxd but I am admittedly growing disenchanted. The overabundance of cringe reviews from the same few one word/joke/clickbait/spoiler reviewers and no way to filter them out also doesn’t help the experience. The last great update was stats pages and that’s been a min.

Admittedly, I was tempted to take off even more stars for the constant server issues but I couldn’t do it. Even though Letterboxd has the worst and most unstable servers of any business website/service I’ve ever used, a lower rating wouldn’t accurately represent all of its redeeming qualities. However, for context, daily loading issues are usual and they’re currently in the middle of a 5hr+ outage! Following said outage I’ve now not been able to like films, add films to lists, or utilize basically any of the site’s features for hours! Recurring issues like this are unheard of with pretty much any other paid service/website. With Letterboxd these sort of bugs are routine and drag on for hours, maybe days. As much as I have a soft spot for them the value is quickly on the decline and becoming intolerable. It’s hard to defend them when one pays for things they often can’t use and worse yet one is in constant fear that all of their years of data could accidentally be erased by server issues.

In the past I’ve also been very critical of the sheer amount of times and methods Letterboxd phones home and the depth of user data being shared, especially using the app, but at least they have now been transparent about most of it. Also, to be fair, a lot of it seems due to integration with third-party APIs. Of course, this is common practice these days and isn’t unique to Letterboxd even if it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth of this paying customer.

The greatest app ever made. Movie lovers paradise. It’s a way of life.

I keep writing the same review for “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and I’ve made sure to toggle the spoiler button. It’s not posting my review or adding it to my diary even though it says it’s doing it. It needs fixing

I tried twice to make a list, (I already have four), and the moment I would try to add Twilight, the entire app stopped working; everything was frozen or blank and I would click to make the list, it said it was saved, but nowhere to be seen. I also keep trying to add a movie to one of my preexisting lists and it says the movie is already in it, but it does not show up anywhere. This is a nice app and I like it, but these issues are quite frustrating.
