The Opal app itself is great, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to lessen their screen time. My issue is with Apple. I signed up for a free trial of Opal, and canceled on the day my trial was set to expire. However, I was already charged $106 for an annual subscription. I submitted a refund request to Apple which was denied, so I appealed it and was denied again. Then I went to Apple support and chatted with an advisor for more help, but they hit a wall because of the refund policy and were not able to help me any further. I am extremely disappointed with Apple’s refund policy and I don’t understand how they can refuse a refund when they charged me before my trial ended. If you are going to sign up for a free trial of Opal, or any other app for that matter, make sure you cancel your free trial early because Apple will charge you before your renewal date. In conclusion, Opal - 5 stars, Apple - 0.

Amazing app. Do the thirty day trial, you won’t regret it!

They make you jump through hoops to cancel the renewal. Would not recommend.

I really like how it’s free and that’s the best part of it , but it’s has so many cool things and features , I like the games before you can take a break but I want to give some advice
Make the games equally long , some games are longer than the others and some are shorter
Also please add more gems and make them more interactive and interesting
Thats all , I really recommend

I wish the wait time was longer. I also dislike that you can change the wait time method in the waiting room.

Love this app and have been using it for years but there’s a bug where sometimes if you click the button to unblock an app it will completely freeze your phone. Never been fixed the entire time

I really like this app!! It made me get away from my phone and actually be productive :)
Beforemyway • Apr 17, 2026
This app does just as advertised. I think it is important though that right from the start you can make a safety list. A list of apps that should NEVER be restricted. What those apps are is completely dependent on each person. For me, it would be apps where i can reach out if i need encouragement, apps that help me regain calm and perspective. Any app I use to help me stay safe. I deleted Opal because the hard stop last night was really hard on my entire nervous system.
