The idea of filters is great in finding a car. Unfortunately, CarMax just can't get it right. Now matter how many times I reset and redo the filters, most of the cars I'm shown are nothing like I've requested. It's very annoying.
Currently in the process of purchasing a car. Waiting on a shipment to arrive at my local carmax. Will update this review as time goes on. Currently, giving this only 3 stars because the resolution of their photos is way to low to make out smaller scuffs and scratches. Like embarrassing low resolution. It's 2026, not 1996. Get with the times carmax. Carvana is decades ahead of you in this arena, I can see every little blemish and defect in their photos, and they go out of thier way to point them out. With carmax, you can't be sure. A lot can hide in lower resolution photos. If my experience goes well, I'll update this to 4 stars. That 5th star will be waiting for carmax to buy cameras from the 21st century...

I bought a car they’re supposed to ship it. I paid for the shipping. The car’s been sitting still in the same city not shipped and it’s been over seven days. They changed the delivery date to me twice. Carmax is a bunch of liars. They do not honor the timeframe of shipping. Don’t believe them. You will be fooled.
I was there for 3 hours with a vehicle that I wanted to trade in for a GMC. My vehicle was already appraised and when we start the paper , out of nowhere they said they’re not taking VW anymore ! And just left me there
Got a car 33 days ago and today the cars engine light came on, I call them and was told the 30days passed and they can’t do anything anymore, that it’s my problem now, since I didn’t purchased their xtra covarega, it was a ford explorer 2023 with less than 25k miles, this was at San Jose dealership
Huge mistake. Carvana still supports older iOS versions and much better cars fyi. Buyers look else where…
For the last four or five days every time I open the app it gives me a message telling me that they “no longer support this version of iOS” and it has to be 18 or higher. My phone is using iOS 26.
Sometimes, if I delete the app, turn off the phone, wait 30 seconds, turn the phone back on, download the app again, half of the time it will open, and then after a minute or so it’ll go back to the screen saying that it doesn’t support the iOS. The other half of the time it automatically goes to that, does not support screen. This has not helped me with trying to check on the car I had shipped for test drive. It did not help me set up a test drive. Or check on the date and time of my test drive. It’s extremely frustrating that this app is showing this glitch for most of this week. Worked fine last week. What happened?

I booked a car and paid for it to be shipped. They took the money and few hours later cancelled the shipment without any reason. Worst experience possible.
Just purchased my first vehicle from Carmax in Lexington, KY. The experience was unbelievable. From the first time we walked on the lot and met Zach to the signing paperwork with Leigh was phenomenal. The attention to detail and customer service is second to none.
This may have been my first vehicle from these guys but won’t be my last. Thank you for a great experience.

This app is useless. It makes you choose “your” store. When you do, you get the Error message: Error.
