Tested this on MacOS with Whoop MG, no vibration, here's the puffin log and strap log.

Model path: WHOOP 5.0 / MG (fd4b service family)

What succeeds in this session:

- Scan/discover/connect succeeds.
- Services discovered: FD4B0001..., 180D, 180F.
- CLIENT_HELLO write is acked and link is established.
- Notify subscriptions become active on fd4b0003/0004/0005/0007 and 2A37/battery.
- Realtime stream is active.
- Historical offload runs and completes (HISTORY_COMPLETE).

What fails:

- Run Haptics Pattern command is sent multiple times with payload 02 02 00 00 00.
- No physical vibration occurs.

Command-response evidence from puffin export:

- 4f:03 x2
- 03:01 x3
- 16:01 x1
- 17:01 x14
- 91:01 x1
- 91:02 x1

Interpretation:

- Transport/framing appears valid (other commands accepted in same session).
- Haptics path appears command-level rejected on this firmware/device combo (cmd 4f returning rc 03).

Relevant strap-log sequence:

- CLIENT_HELLO acked — link established.
- Toggle R...

**Confirmed and reproduced on a real, fully-bonded WHOOP MG** — your diagnosis is exactly right. On a bonded strap: live HR streams, battery reads, and the `RUN_HAPTICS_PATTERN` write gets a CoreBluetooth acknowledgement — but the strap doesn't vibrate.

So the **transport is fine; the strap is just ignoring our command.** What we send today is the WHOOP 4.0 haptic payload (`0202000000` — pattern id 2, two loops) puffin-framed. The 5/MG clearly wants a *different* command/payload for haptics that we haven't decoded yet.

**This is the canonical tracker for the 5/MG buzz** (consolidating the older #28). It's the one remaining live-feature gap on 5/MG — HR, battery, history decode and the experimental offload all work; only the buzz doesn't.

**How you can help crack it** (this is exactly the kind of thing that gets it fixed):
- On a bonded MG: **Settings → Experimental → "Record puffin frames"**, then hit **Buzz** a few times, and attach the exported capture here. That shows whether the...
