AI Executive Synthesis
Polished and functional user interface, consistent with professional desktop applications like Adobe Lightroom.
This UI rendering bug in lightcraft on Linux/Wayland, where menu dropdowns overlap their titles, indicates a fundamental issue with egui's popup positioning logic. While seemingly minor, such UI glitches significantly degrade the user experience, making the application appear unpolished and unprofessional. For a product aiming to replicate Lightroom's functionality, a robust and intuitive UI is paramount. This defect, especially on a specific platform like Wayland, suggests potential cross-platform UI inconsistencies that could hinder broader adoption. Addressing these visual imperfections is crucial for establishing lightcraft as a credible and user-friendly alternative.

xmp sidecar files would be a way to keep edits in sync
Thanks for adding this to the roadmap! My ideal workflow is to pair a tablet with my computer and edit from anywhere without requiring a cloud provider.
Smart Preview-style editable proxies would keep transfers small, with originals and full-resolution processing staying on the computer. Cached previews should support offline editing and sync changes on reconnect.
[Tailcat](https://github.com/tailscale/tailcat) looks worth exploring for encrypted remote connectivity with self-hosted relay support. Secure device pairing, revocable access, and permissions limited to the photo library would be essential.

Thanks so much for this, @EtienneT, and for the kind words! A tablet workflow (photos living on your computer, editing on a tablet with a stylus) is something we'd love LightCraft to support, so we've put it on the roadmap.
A couple of building blocks already exist: the engine is the same pure-Rust core everywhere, and LightCraft already runs in the browser via WebAssembly, so a tablet front end wouldn't start from scratch. The missing pieces are the sync between your computer's library and the tablet, and a touch- and stylus-first editing UI. We'll keep this issue open to track it, and ideas on how you'd want the flow to work (sync over the local network vs. a shared folder, what should happen offline, etc.) are very welcome here.
