Community Voice & Feedback
This is just great. I’m way out of my league here….learning to code in Python, learning terminal, all the things….and most of it is done with the help of Claude Code at the command line or through VS code….i work though the day (roofing contractor) put the kids to bed and get to work on whatever the current assignment is in CS50P (free Harvard Python). Working 10-2am, falling asleep and it’s all gone the next morning😂. Really excited to see if this prompts recall….thank you for the cool product and I love your branding!
is it only for Mac? or Windows too?
This is neat! Since there are no network calls, I'm guessing the session titles come from Claude Code's own records and Chit just parses them? Or is there some model call hidden in there, and if so, what drives it? I want to build something on a similar mechanism for a different purpose.
"no network code in the binary" is the detail that actually gets something like this installed instead of just starred and forgotten. we run a few parallel Claude Code sessions across different repos some days, curious how grouping works when two sessions touch the same project on the same day, does it merge into one receipt or print one per session
Wow! Blowminding. Love to see this kind of projects launching here
Any chance this can run on codex too?
Love that it prints what you actually did rather than what you typed. Turning your own Claude Code history into a standup receipt is such a clever, privacy-first take on daily reflection.
The nm/otool proof is such a good call. Most privacy promises are just words, shipping the actual commands so anyone can verify it themselves is a completely different level of trust. 777 KB and zero network code is a real constraint, not a marketing line. Congrats on the launch, this is a clean idea.
I'm in claude code all day and by evening I genuinely can't remember what I did in the morning, so yeah. how does it deal with subagents and parallel sessions in the same project? one receipt or split up?
The CLI option makes this more interesting to me. Being able to pipe the output into another workflow means i wouldnt have to change how i already handle timesheets.
The receipt format is a clever way to solve the end of day problem. I have definitely finished a productive session and then struggled to remember exactly what i accomplished.

Hey Product Hunt 👋
Two launches ago I put Crew here (little pixel monsters for your Claude Code
agents, #7 of the day, thank you), then Notchling. Chit is the third, and it is
the one I actually built for myself first.
The problem: you run Claude Code all day, you genuinely get a lot done, and by
6pm you cannot remember any of it. Standup tomorrow. Timesheet on Friday.
Chit reads the transcripts Claude Code already writes to ~/.claude/projects and
prints the day back as a receipt, grouped by project. One click copies it as
plain bullets, already phrased the way a task sheet wants them.
▪ It prints what you did, not what you typed. Claude Code names most sessions
itself; where it has not, Chit names the line after the files you touched.
Your prompts never appear anywhere.
▪ Grouped by project, busiest first. Agent worktrees fold back into their parent
instead of showing up as strangers.
▪ Copy the whole day, or one project. Plain text, or Markdown for the places
that render it.
▪ It is also a CLI: chit --today, --date=, --from= --to=, --markdown. Pipe it
into whatever eats your timesheets.
▪ Menu bar only, no Dock icon. ⌥⌃⌘C shows and hides it.
On privacy, which I want to be concrete about rather than reassuring:
▪ There is no network code in the binary. Not a policy, a property:
$ cd Chit.app/Contents/MacOS
$ nm -u Chit | grep -c URLSession → 0
$ otool -L Chit | grep -c CFNetwork → 0
▪ No account, no API key, no telemetry.
▪ Lines show file names, never paths. A path says who you are and who you work
for; audit.js does not.
▪ You can hide whole projects. Honest limit: that hides that project's lines, it
cannot hide a sentence you typed about that work inside a different project.
I am not selling it as if it could.
Honest notes:
▪ macOS 13+, Apple Silicon and Intel, 777 KB.
▪ Not notarised yet, so a browser download gets flagged once. The curl line on
the site installs with no warning and the SHA-256 is published next to it.
▪ Today's receipt is free and stays free, and it is the half I use every
morning. $12 once adds past days, the week and month statements, and the
dashboard. The free tier is not a demo.
▪ An earlier version of this needed Hammerspoon and Python 3. That is gone.
It is one file you double click.
Built in Swift, solo, with Claude Code. Happy to answer anything.
What else should a receipt for your working day have on it?
