Math rendering capability, specifically MathJax integration.

Technical Positioning
Educational utility, presentation tool enhancement, adherence to strict runtime budget, single-file distribution model.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
The demand for MathJax rendering in `bento` highlights a critical functional gap for educational and technical presentation use cases. Current Unicode math rendering is deemed insufficient, limiting the product's utility in academic settings. This feature request directly conflicts with the `~400 KB runtime budget` constraint, as MathJax, even at 15 KB, represents a significant percentage increase. The user's suggestion of separate product versions (light vs. feature-rich) indicates a willingness to accept trade-offs for specialized functionality. This tension between core architectural constraints and feature expansion for specific verticals is a key strategic decision point impacting market segment penetration.

MathJax rendering

**The problem / use case**
What are you trying to do that's hard or impossible today?

I am trying to use Bento Slides to make presentations for math classes. I like the idea that I can distribute an html file that students can view with just a browser, and can even edit if they want. However, rendering math is kind of ugly. Unicode math symbols are not pretty.

**What you'd like**
I'd like to get math rendering capability in Bento. The most obvious choice to me is MathJax. It is Apache 2.0 licensed and is web-focused and stable/mature.

**Keep in mind**
Bento is a single self-contained file with a ~400 KB runtime budget and a
stable, additive document format. Ideas that respect those constraints (or
explain the trade-off) are easiest to move on.

Understood- MathJax claims to be about 15 kB. That might be too much but I personally would think it worthwhile to get a math-capable version of Bento. I don't know if maintaining separate versions is an option, but you could have fast/light version without MathJax, and a heavier version with more libraries included.

I'm also going to work on this myself to see how hard it is and might submit a pull request if I can get it working, but I'm submitting this feature request for now to see if anyone else will comment or have ideas.
