Gemini Executive Synthesis

Implementing a robust unit testing framework for the core `lib/` codebase of M3E Canvas. This directly impacts the reliability and maintainability of the project's foundational logic, including prompt generation and layout algorithms.

Technical Positioning
Establishing a higher standard of code quality and reliability through automated testing. This ensures the integrity of the core 'vibe-coding prompt' generation and layout logic, preventing silent regressions and improving developer confidence in the output.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
The absence of a unit test suite for M3E Canvas's core `lib/` logic represents a significant technical debt and risk. Critical functions like prompt generation and layout algorithms are currently vulnerable to silent regressions, directly impacting the quality and reliability of the 'vibe-coding prompts.' Implementing Vitest and integrating unit tests into CI is a fundamental step towards ensuring code integrity and preventing costly errors. This move signals a maturation of the development process, prioritizing stability and maintainability. For a SaaS product relying on precise output, robust testing is non-negotiable; it underpins trust in the generated code and reduces future development friction. This initiative is crucial for scaling the product without compromising its core value proposition.

Repo: lnkiai/m3e-canvas
Add unit tests for lib/ and run them in CI

### What are you trying to do

The repo has no test suite today; CI runs typecheck and build only. The pure logic in `lib/` is the most valuable and most testable part of the codebase:

- `lib/prompt.ts` – prompt generation per language / target platform (the project's core output)

- `lib/tidy.ts` – layout auto-arrangement

- `lib/color.ts` – M3 scheme generation from a seed color

- `lib/shapes.ts` / `lib/tokens.ts` – geometry and corner math

Regressions here (e.g. a wording change breaking prompt structure, or a tidy edge case) are silent today.

### What would help

A contributor can run `npm test` locally and get fast results for the pure
`lib/` logic; every PR then runs the same tests in the existing `check` job
in `ci.yml`, alongside typecheck and build.

Proposed change:

1. Add Vitest (dev-only, TS-native, fast, no extra config burden) with an `npm test` script
2. Start with a small, focused set of unit tests for the pure functions above — no DOM/component tests in the first PR
3. Add `npm test` to the existing `check` job in `ci.yml`

Happy to send the PR. Scope questions before I start:

- Vitest OK, or do you prefer another runner (e.g. Node's built-in `node:test`)?
- Any preference on snapshot vs. assertion-based tests for `prompt.ts`?

Extracted Positioning
Enhancing the M3E Canvas editor to support diverse artboard dimensions beyond fixed phone portrait, specifically for desktop and landscape web interfaces. This directly impacts the accuracy of generated 'vibe-coding prompts' and design fidelity.
Achieving a more versatile and professional design tool capable of accurately representing multi-platform UI/UX, moving beyond mobile-first constraints. The goal is to provide accurate layout intent for generated code, making the tool relevant for broader web development targets.

Thanks, this is a good fit for where the project is going. Yes, let's do it, in stages. **Model:** a frame has one size. Presets to start: phone 412×892 (current) and desktop 1280×800; tablet and c...

Stage 1 is in: is merged, thank you. On top of it, 435e63b adds what came out of trying it: - Switching a screen lays it out again by the tidy rules (bars on their edges, the FAB in its corner, the...
