Core DAW functionality: UI/UX, audio engine, hardware support, editing tools

Technical Positioning
Functional parity with professional DAWs like Pro Tools, robust user experience, reliable audio processing.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
This comprehensive bug report exposes critical deficiencies across Soundcraft's core functionality. The extensive list of UI/UX failures, including broken shortcuts, zoom limitations, and unresponsive context menus, indicates a fundamental lack of polish and usability. More critically, the absence of external audio interface support, unpredictable bus routing, and preamp gain feedback issues render the application unusable for professional audio production. These are not minor bugs but foundational architectural and design flaws that directly impede the product's ability to function as a Pro Tools alternative. This severely impacts market viability and developer trust, signaling a product far from production readiness.

All the Bugs i could find

1\. Navigation and UI Shortcuts

Broken Window Toggles: Pressing Command + = resizes the mixer window instead of switching views, while Control + = fails to open the MIDI window.

Missing Navigation Shortcuts: Command + Num3 (big clock/counter) and Command + Num9 (video window) do not open their respective windows.

Zooming Issues: Waveform zoom can zoom in, but there is no way to zoom back out. Timeline zoom presets are only accessible via mouse and have no keyboard shortcuts.

Scrolling and Selection: Holding Shift while scrolling with the mouse wheel does not scroll horizontally. Left-click selection is choppy compared to middle-click selection.

Context Menus: Right-click context menus disappear when attempting to select their options.

2\. Audio Engine, Hardware and Routing

No External Audio Interface Support: The playback engine settings detect the default built-in audio device but provide no option to select or switch to connected external audio interfaces.

Bus and Send Glitches: Adjusting send levels can get stuck. Bus routing behaves unpredictably, and there is no option to remove or disable a send once it has been created.

Preamp Gain Feedback: Adjusting preamp gain immediately causes the audio to approach feedback.

3\. Editing and Timeline Tools

Broken Editing Modes: Spot mode does not display the expected dialogue box for entering exact clip coordinates. Shuffle mode trims adjacent clips instead of pushing or swapping them.

Non-Functional Shortcuts:

In the worst-case scenario, I think SonusCraft can do the trick; the only party sharing the name is an Etsy bracelet seller. Hopefully the Latin doesn't detract from the overall naming convention?

FruityCraft would be awesome

You can already get Ableton Live mostly for free with the Lite version? (some limits like 8 tracks but most of the stuff in Studio is there) Seems a little like reinventing the wheel.

I'm working on this.

This is the same bug as , and (open) already fixes it: off macOS, a held Ctrl now counts as the shortcut's Cmd, with tests for both platforms. So I won't open a second PR here.
