Chuddy, a self-hosted Telegram bot for media downloading, translation, and OCR within group chats, with 60% of its codebase written using Z.ai's GLM-5.1 model.

Technical Positioning
Self-hosted media downloading, translation and OCR Telegram bot. Emphasizes privacy ('Absolutely 0 telemetry') and user control ('free to edit the code').
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
Chuddy addresses a niche demand for privacy-centric, self-hosted utility bots within messaging platforms. The '0 telemetry' and open-source nature appeal to users concerned about data privacy and vendor lock-in, a growing sentiment in consumer and prosumer markets. While presented as a personal project, the underlying functionality (media handling, translation, OCR) highlights the increasing integration of advanced algorithmic capabilities into everyday communication tools. The use of a specific model (Z.ai's GLM-5.1) indicates the accessibility of sophisticated algorithms for individual developers. Market implications suggest a continued fragmentation of utility tools, with a segment preferring self-managed, transparent solutions over commercial, cloud-dependent alternatives. This caters to a specific user base valuing control and customization over convenience.

Show HN: Chuddy, self-hosted media downloading, translation and OCR Telegram bot

My latest project, about 60% of the codebase was written with Z.ai's GLM-5.1 model. It's basically a Telegram bot that allows for embedding/downloading media easier within group chats. Absolutely 0 telemetry and you're free to edit the code as you wish. I know this is so small and stupid compared to the cool stuff I read here every day, but I'm very proud of my accomplishments as I had to learn a lot to get this to work as intended. Anyways enjoy ^^
