A browser-based meeting recorder and summarizer that operates without a meeting bot.

Technical Positioning
A privacy-conscious, botless alternative to traditional meeting recording SaaS, leveraging local browser storage and a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model for OpenAI API access.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
This product addresses the growing user discomfort with meeting bots and the desire for greater control over sensitive meeting data. The "botless" approach and local browser storage directly tackle privacy concerns and SaaS vendor lock-in. The BYOK model for OpenAI API access shifts the cost and data processing responsibility to the user, potentially lowering initial friction for adoption but also introducing a setup barrier. This tests a market wedge where users prioritize privacy and data sovereignty over fully managed SaaS solutions. The ability to record even with laptop audio off highlights a practical utility. The model's success hinges on whether users accept the BYOK complexity for enhanced privacy and control, indicating a potential shift in trust boundaries for AI-powered productivity tools.

Show HN: A botless meeting recorder and summarizer that runs in the browser

I built a browser app for recording calls and turning them into transcripts/summaries without inviting a meeting bot.The current version is BYOK: you provide an OpenAI API key, stored locally in your browser. Recordings/projects stay in browser storage; selected audio/transcript text is sent to OpenAI only when you run transcription/summary.I am testing whether the wedge is real: no bot in the meeting, no SaaS workspace for recordings, summaries/exports afterward.I would appreciate feedback on the trust boundary and whether BYOK is acceptable for a first version.I used it once to record a meeting I didn't want to spend 1 hour on, and just needed the summary - the tool captured the meeting audio even after I turned off the laptop audio.
