Technical Positioning
A lightweight, command-line interface for following NBA games, leveraging public NBA API endpoints and built with Go for performance and a TUI for a minimalist experience.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
Courtside demonstrates the enduring appeal of minimalist, terminal-based applications for specific data consumption. Leveraging public APIs to create a TUI for NBA scores and fixtures caters to a segment of users who prefer efficiency and a distraction-free experience over graphical interfaces. The use of Go, BubbleTea, and LipGloss highlights modern approaches to building performant and visually appealing TUIs. While a consumer tool, it underscores the potential for B2B applications in data monitoring, system status dashboards, or specialized reporting where a lightweight, text-based interface is preferred for quick information retrieval and low resource consumption.

Show HN: Courtside – TUI for NBA Games

Hi HN, I made this after seeing a few similar projects on the front page. NBA API endpoints are public and there’s a pretty robust python package ( github.com/swar/nba_api ) that I referenced for the endpoint structure to build an sdk in go. used BubbleTea and LipGloss for styling. It was a bit tricky to test the live endpoints but I watched Friday’s Final game with this and it worked pretty wellplayball - news.ycombinator.com/item - news.ycombinator.com/item

I just don't understand, why not add a little info, like where it's pulling data from. Is there just no interest in communicating anything to potential users? idk.
