FSearch for Mac: a native launcher built on fsearch
Hi Noah, thanks for fsearch. I built a native Mac front end on top of it and wanted you to hear about it first.
**FSearch for Mac:** https://github.com/domfahey/fsearch-app
It's a menu-bar launcher: press a hotkey (⌥Space by default), type part of a file name, and results come straight from fsearch as you type. It can also search inside files and find definitions through the daemon's grep and symbol modes. It's SwiftUI/AppKit, talks to the daemon over its JSON-lines socket, and adds no indexing of its own: fsearch does all the work.
How it uses fsearch:
- It bundles a pinned build of fsearch and registers `fsearch serve` as a login item with SMAppService.
- If a daemon already answers on the socket (for example one installed with `fsearch install --login`), it uses that one. It never stops, replaces or takes over a daemon it didn't start, including the `mt.nd.fsearch` agent.
- The README, the app's About window and THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES credit you and fsearch by name, with fsearch's MIT license. The project says it's independent and not affiliated.
A few things I'd like your view on:
1. **The name.** "FSearch for Mac" leans on yours. Happy to rename if you'd rather it didn't.
2. **Upstream.** If you'd like it closer to fsearch (a link from your README, or living in the repo later), I'm glad to help however suits you.
3. **Daemon changes that would help the app**, as small separate PRs if you're open to them:
- a version field in `status`, so the app can tell when the run...
