Hi Product Hunt,

I am currently following a RYA Day Skipper theory course online, and I built Skipper Study as a fun side project and study helper for myself.

I wanted a simple way to practice the basic stuff between lessons: buoyage, lights, tides, chartwork, IRPCS, VHF, pilotage, safety, and the general rules and navigation theory that can feel hard to keep straight when you are learning.

I vibe-coded it over a week using Codex. The questions and explanations were AI-generated, then checked against official and public references such as the IMO COLREGs, IALA buoyage recommendations, UKHO chart-symbol guidance, Met Office marine guidance, MCA VHF guidance, and public RYA safety/navigation pages.

It is not official RYA material, not endorsed by the RYA, and definitely not a replacement for proper training, books, an instructor, or real seamanship. The underlying topics are not RYA-specific though. They are common boating and sailing fundamentals: collision rules, lights and shapes, marks, tides, charts, weather, safety, and navigation.

The current version has 350+ practice questions with configurable 10, 15, 20, 30, or 50-question rounds. You pick the modules, run a short quiz, and then review the answers.

I would really value feedback from sailors, instructors, motor boaters, coastal cruisers, and anyone who knows or is learning this material:
- Which topics should the question bank go deeper on first?
- Are the explanations clear enough when you get an answer wrong?
- Would progress tracking or spaced repetition make this more useful?

Thanks for taking a look.
