As soon as I click on text the app crashes. The crash happens when I take my finger off the screen. It does show the pages nicely formatted with text highlighting. Suggestion: implement logic so a user can tap on an anchor to load that page. And fix the text selection bug.

Could you please add a 'select all' function, or a simple button like 'copy to clipboard', that copies the entire source to the clip board to be pasted elsewhere?

Thanjs!

The app works well for exactly what it says - viewing the source from a website. In the app you can input a URL, but directly from the browser (Safari) you have a new “action” to open the page’s source.

The search function is clunky and unreliable. Among other things. Okay for taking a quick look at some source code.

This tool allows you to select View Source from the Share Sheet in Safari on iPhone/iPad. It will pass the URL along to the View Source app, but it’s making a separate request and will fail to give you the actual page you’re viewing in Safari if that page normally requres authoriztion - like a web mail / gmail, portal or any page that requires a login. So that makes this far less useful. It would be nice if it could dump the current Safari HTML document buffer as HTML, but it doesn’t do that.

Ok may require a little initial troubleshooting, but works great after that. Had to do a phone restart & closing out of the app & Safari and then reopening them a few times, but I got the View Source action to show up in Safari for me. So you can open up the app that way when browsing or you can copy paste the url into the app. I don’t know what that other reviewer was talking about w not being able to copy the text from it. Maybe they weren’t familiar with using ios’s built in copy paste menu & they wanted a separate button. ANYWAYS you can definitely copy the text. And it has a Find feature too; it’s found thru a menu option. Thank you for making this, developer!

Is it just my device? Or is everyone else having issues copying data?

This app is a necessity for me, but unfortunately I am no longer able to copy text within the source code. Does anyone by any chance have a workaround to copy text?

I have not found another app that does with this one does and/or does as well as this one. The author apparently has not updated it in years, but it still continues to work.

Kind of refreshing to have an app that just does what you need. Cool and thanks. As far as the one star review that claims they can cut and paste, well it’s called View Source for a reason. And it’s free. I also think the developer might open a can of legal issues if they allowed all that functionality. Oh and it’s free!

Easy copy paste.

Ability to email source or selected code of page.
dmarkovikj • Jun 3, 2020
It does what it says but there’s no way to select all the code to copy so you need to scroll all the way down while selecting line by line.

This is a tool for people with idle curiosity, but is lacking one tiny function that would make it useful to Web developers.

You can VIEW the source, but that’s it. Just look, nothing else. You can’t even copy paste the source.

I tried this tool because I’m trying to debug a very complex CMS-managed site that isn’t working on mobile. Being able to copy/paste the source to a file so I can compare it to the source being served on desktop browsers would have let me fix the problem in a jiffy. But with this app, you might as well be looking at a screenshot of the source. You can’t do anything with it—no highlighting, no copy/paste, nothing. You can only read it, that’s all.

It will be missed. Worked so well when it worked.

Roman - thanks for the handy free utility!!

Open Safari, open webpage, open share sheet and select View Source, wait for page source to appear, cannot search within the page so select share... crashes.
