I took the afternoon off and the tasker never showed. I re booked someone else and the same thing happened. And they wouldn’t even let me review the person since technically they didn’t “do the job”. But both people had 5 stars.. I think people should know what kind of tasker they are booking. Let us review them when they are no shows or at least mark it on their record. Ridiculous. Never using this app again.

I really wanted to like the TaskRabbit app, but the notification system has left me deeply disappointed. The biggest issue is that I never get notified when a Tasker cancels my task or simply doesn’t show up. The only way I find out is by opening the app and checking manually, which shouldn’t be necessary.

What makes this especially frustrating is that I have notifications turned on for both email and text, yet nothing ever comes through on either channel. For an app built around scheduling and reliability, failing to send these basic alerts is a serious problem.

Unless this gets fixed, I’m seriously considering deleting the app. Timely notifications about cancellations and no-shows are the bare minimum I’d expect, and right now the app just isn’t delivering.

They can cancel last minute on you whenever they want with no penalty if you cancel on them, they penalize you. There’s no recourse or anything you can do about it. That’s very unprofessional.

Agree with other comments that app works but no one seems to follow through on tasks and are able to cancel the day of, hence collectively the business model isn’t working.

Taskrabbit can be really great when people actually show up. Using this app I have to plan on average that 6 out of every 7 taskers will bail before they get to my job, waisting the time it usually takes me. They usually ask a lot of redundant questions in advance and then decide the job is too small or too hard or they won’t reply for an hour and then when they do, I don’t get back for an hour (days before the job time), and so they decide that I’m not interested. I had one tasker write me for two hours straight asking for photos, clarifications, extra contact info, and after reconfirming sent me a message at 1130pm. When I didn’t reply until 730am, he canceled out of spite saying that I hadn’t been responsive enough.
Long story short: really great 14% of the time.

I was charged the 1st time upfront $53.59 and the tasker cancelled on me, I had to find another one and again I was charged this time $55 upfront and the tasker cancelled on me again, it took them over a week to refund me and I was out over a $100 and my task was still not done. They should not be charging upfront and then hold your money for over a week. This unethical and borderline illegal. Will never use this app again.

I’ve had some success with this app and I have had some horror stories. I’ve met some extremely reliable people, even some that didn’t exactly know how to do the job but were upfront about it and I didn’t get charged. I had people say they finished the work and left a mess behind and the work unfinished. Safe to say I’ve had some experience but the most annoying thing to me is if you have a conflict last minute you get charged for the hour of work and I get that it’s out of respect for the contractor/handypersons time but if you knew how many times I raced home or sat waiting around for hours and the tasker never showed up??? You clear your schedule clear your house and sit there and nothing. If respect is mutual when a tasker doesn’t show up they should send the client 1 hour of pay for inconveniencing them!

As a first time user of task rabbit, every single tasker canceled last minute (3). No way to contact taskers except through chat - no phone numbers. My closet rod fell - which I provided pictures of. There is no way to rate these taskers if they cancel. So unreliable. I will never use this app again. The app itself is super buggy - won’t show how many tasks I have - doesn’t refresh tasks when cancelled.

Full of spam and beggars
Bianca144 • May 14, 2026
I can’t schedule a tasker due to having a new number without access to my previous number. This is INSANE
Valeriaca • May 13, 2026
I booked a tasker for 12pm because he was free in the app. He messaged me saying he wasn’t free and that he could come at 4.30 instead. I said no and canceled the task. I was charged for 1h of his time. Ridiculous, I was ready at 12, he wasn’t and I still had to pay !!!

Allowing your Taskrabbit to prove a task only to cancel it on the hour they’re supposed to arrive and then not permitting a negative review should be considered an illegal tactic on the part of Taskrabbit. You’re purposely gatekeeping reviews to prevent a quality of standard from droppings

the person who canceled last minute has all five stars. His bio says he’s timely and reliable. This task was a very time sensitive need And I trusted his commitment. The fact that Timothy P canceled on the hour he was supposed to arrive and you did not allow the me to leave a comment proves that you are gatekeeping, and you will be reported. This should not be allowed ever. You messed up big time.

I hired a taskrabbit contractor that had moving heavy furniture in their skill description to move an enormous cabinet. Immediately after hiring them, I reached out and they said they were unable to do the task on their own. I ended up canceling the job since they were unable to do it. The company decided to charge me anyway. I reached out to support to explain the situation and they basically just dipped out and said not our problem. If you have an issue, don’t expect to get help from support.
