It’s sad that slack will not be supporting older versions of iOS. I have and old iPad iOS 15.8.7.

Been trying to figure this out for a long time. I have to log in and check for new messages — the app will not reliably send me notifications. I have tried updating, making sure my phone allows notifications, making sure my phone isn’t on silent mode or ‘do not disturb’ etc, I still miss notifications of important messages. It drives me crazy. If I knew of another platform that has the organization of Slack but was reliable with notifications I would switch over with no hesitation. It causes me delays and problems.

The ui needs improvement, try to make messages like whatsapp and telegram …. In the channel for the project make the tabs near others and overflow-x-auto if there is many tabs to make it easier to move between tabs

And make pressed tabs saved in localStorage so when i go to chats and back to tasks, i find my tab

And sort messages by last updated so i found people that i recently contacted first

I love this app and used it for years but as someone who changes their profile picture every day, I use gifs or animate profiles but can’t

Slack is amazing for team collaboration and getting things done

I used this for a group project rather than for a company that works 9am - 5pm, meaning lots of early mornings, late nights, and weekends when my team needed to reach each other. MULTIPLE times a week, seemingly at random, slack would reset itself to only giving notifications 9am to 5pm during the work week, leading to COUNTLESS times that someone on the team didn’t get important notifications or became unreachable because their slack had turned off. Made our team coordination much worse overall.

The way the replies are handled is too messy and confusing. Code snippets can’t be customized to a specific coding language. Searching for gifs is an endless random shuffle until you find the one you want. No option to add a picture to a group or channel.

Cannot prioritize and lose messages once opened
ArtAsArt • Apr 3, 2026
I’m not getting notified in my regular email client when new messages are posted in conversation groups I’m in. I have to go to Slack to discover them. Also when I have gone back to see an attached graphic posted by someone, on my feed it said “file deleted” while on hers it was still showing. This is too confusing and not worth the effort to track oddities down.

Great advice

It’s fine a messaging app but there’s literally just too much going on in it and is kinda ugly
Skyler8869 • Apr 3, 2026
The initial setup was a little tricky, but after that, it’s been a great way to interface with Openclaw.
Shawdaej • Apr 3, 2026
My current organization uses this as our primary source of communication and I love it. Much better than what we were using before.
