Update: WordCraft 0.4.0 carries a new UpgradeCode ({075497F9-E861-45D0-9C7F-A74F8C34E6BA}, verified from the MSI Property table) and installs cleanly alongside DesignCraft 0.5.0 - no more 1603, nothing uninstalled. This looks fixed. Closing; thanks!
Independent confirmation from another Windows 11 x64 machine, plus a full-suite survey.
I read the MSI `Property` tables of all 12 published Craft MSIs (0.3.0–0.7.0 era). WordCraft 0.3.0 (`{FEA37DD3-B5A9-4BBF-B112-9E5617C9F9F0}`) and DesignCraft 0.4.0 (`{9ACC8763-0E9D-4844-A9CE-6848B48BB2C3}`) share UpgradeCode `{49E87D30-BB68-4896-AA1D-F45C833CFC3C}`. The other ten suite MSIs (Photo / Vector / Effect / Film / Light / Pdf / Deck / Grid / Sound / CAD) plus ArtCraft 0.41.0 each have unique UpgradeCodes. So this pair is the only collision in the whole suite.
Install log matches the diagnosis exactly: `FindRelatedProducts` sets `WIX_DOWNGRADE_DETECTED`, `LaunchConditions` returns 3 with "A newer version of WordCraft is already installed", final status 1603. Rollback leaves the existing DesignCraft install intact (verified: still 0.4.0 afterwards).
Workarounds that work: the portable zip, and (for scripted setups) skipping the MSI until fixed. My daily updater now detects the shared Upgr...

This looks like the same bug as #5, fixed by #9. The 0.3.0 release is from Oct 8 and #9 merged Oct 9, so any 0.3.0 build still has it.
Thai isn't the trigger here. It's the font dropdown itself: opening it renders a preview for the first uncached font, and that code path takes egui's context write lock and then tries to read input through the same lock, so the main thread deadlocks. Selecting Thai text just happens to be when people reach for the font dropdown.
I checked current `main` and the nested lock is gone, so this should be fixed there. Let us know if you still see it on a build newer than #9.

I believe that doesn't have to do anything with Thai, but rather with ANY font change when clicking on the font change control (drop down menu / combo-box) - causes the app to freeze. It happened to me on Win 11 and on the web.
Thanks for confirming and tracing it to wordcraft.wxs:16 - matches what I saw in the MSI Property tables (both on UpgradeCode 49E87D30-BB68-4896-AA1D-F45C833CFC3C). Confirming my setup: DesignCraft 0.4.0 MSI installed, WordCraft 0.3.0 MSI blocked with 1603 (WIX_DOWNGRADE_DETECTED), portable zip works fine as a workaround. No silent uninstall on my end since WordCraft never got an MSI install. Leaving the fix to the team.
Confirming on Windows 11 x64: installing `wordcraft-0.3.0-windows-x64.msi` with DesignCraft 0.4.0 present fails with 1603 ("A newer version of WordCraft is already installed"). The portable zip works as a workaround.
Some details to add:
**Where it comes from:** the code is hardcoded at [`packaging/windows/wordcraft.wxs:16`](https://github.com/storytold/wordcraft/blob/main/packaging/windows/wordcraft.wxs#L16) (`UpgradeCode="49E87D30-BB68-4896-AA1D-F45C833CFC3C"`). It's identical to `packaging/windows/designcraft.wxs`. It arrived in 7b4a526f, the release pipeline "adapted from DesignCraft". I checked the other suite apps, and each one (Photo, Vector, Effect, Film, Light, Pdf, Deck, Grid, Sound, CAD) has its own UpgradeCode. Only this pair is shared.
**It can also silently uninstall the other app, not just block an install.** With `` (line 23), Windows Installer treats the two as one product, so whichever MSI has the same or higher version ...

I am using arch with a normal font and it happens in this case too, it probably has something to do with the dropdown menu.

Duplicate of #5: opening the font selector hangs WordCraft. The cause is a nested egui context lock, fixed in #9 (open). This one can be closed in favour of #5.
