Product Positioning & Context
AI Executive Synthesis
A personal solution for managing task dependencies, offering a minimalist and private alternative to clunky or enterprise-scale tools like Jira or Linear, without cloud storage.
Flocklist addresses a common individual productivity pain point: the inability to start tasks due to unmet dependencies, a problem often exacerbated by overly complex or enterprise-grade task management tools. Its positioning as a "minimalist, private dependency tracker" directly targets users seeking simplicity and data sovereignty (no cloud storage). While built for personal use, the underlying concept of graph-based dependency tracking has significant B2B implications for project management, workflow orchestration, and resource allocation in small teams or specialized departments. The market trend favors tools that offer focused functionality and a clean user experience over feature bloat. Flocklist demonstrates the potential for niche solutions that prioritize user control and efficiency.
Hi HN! Flocklist.app is a minimalist, private dependency tracker.I mostly just built this for myself, since I would sit down to work, look at my to-do list, and I couldn't do 2/3 of the tasks. None of the solutions to this really cut it, either because they are a little clunky or are enterprise scale (like Jira, Linear, you know the rest). I figure I can't be the only one with this problem, so I built this free app to fix it. (It also doesn’t store tasks in the cloud.)I would love to hear any feedback you have!
