Open Source + "any terminal" is the right scope for this. To answer Jack's question above: for me it'd be webhook/deploy status — I run a small SaaS where a Gumroad webhook issues license keys and sends email, and the one thing I actually want glanceable while I'm in the terminal is "did the last webhook call succeed" without tabbing to a dashboard. Piping a simple curl/jq check into the bar would cover that. Following to see what people end up building for it.

Curious what you run in your bar day-to-day! Is it easy to pipe in custom stuff like Git branches, active K8s context, or CPU load?

Wow, that's a simple but really cool idea. I wonder how it will work with Warp and Ghostty.

A status bar that works in any terminal is a genuinely handy idea, especially for long running builds where you want to glance at progress without switching windows. Simple and useful, which is the best kind of tool.

I hadn’t really thought about a status bar for the terminal before seeing this. Now I’m trying to figure out what I’d actually want it to show.

Free and open source makes this pretty easy to experiment with. Curious where you take it from here.

I’m wondering what people end up putting in the bar most often. There are a few things I’d want visible while working in a terminal.

I spend enough time in terminals that I can see myself finding this useful.

I like tools that add one small thing and stay out of the way.

Open source is a nice touch. I’m going to have a look at the GitHub.

Okay, this is simple enough that I’d actually try it.

The any terminal bit is what got me.
