the automated alignment is the genuinely useful part, agreed, that's a real chore on every CO2 laser I've seen. the line that'd stop me though is "add the riser or conveyor and it's no longer a closed Class 1 machine" - that's exactly the setup most people doing anything bigger than small acrylic pieces would want, the conveyor is half the pitch here. is there a fume extraction and interlock spec for that configuration, or does going beyond Class 1 mean the safety story becomes "here's a vented room, good luck"?

I love their 3D printers so I'm sure this would be great.

Love that the automatic mirror alignment turns a fiddly thermal-paper-and-screws ritual into a one minute toolhead sensor step, lowering the real barrier to CO2 lasers for makers.

Hi everyone! This is Bambu’s first standalone laser cutter. The H2D put a diode module in the printer, and a lot of people did not want soot in that box.The useful part is the mirror alignment. On a CO2 laser, that usually means thermal paper, test shots, and tiny screws. R1 clips a sensor onto the toolhead and does the alignment automatically in about a minute. The work area is 600 × 300 mm, speed goes up to 1000 mm/s, and a lot of the motion-control thinking comes from Bambu’s printers. Thick cuts need the longer-focus lenses, which are sold separately. One thing worth knowing: add the riser or conveyor and it is no longer a closed Class 1 machine!
