Community Voice & Feedback
I think mostly the point of games is the time spent by real humans curating a very specific experience. This seems like a fun distraction but I wouldn't expect it to see long term adoption from the core gaming community who have always cared more about quality than quantity.
Love that changing the rules, physics, or characters is just a conversation, it turns game design into play itself rather than a coding barrier.
Changing the rules, characters and physics just by chatting keeps the fun in tweaking a game, which is usually where made for you generators get boring. Letting people publish to a community gallery is what turns it from a toy into something with replay value. How well does it hold up when a request changes core mechanics rather than just visuals?
Love that Google is making its AI experiments accessible instead of keeping them behind the scenes. The interesting part will be seeing which experiments actually stick.
I was looking forward to this, but not available in my country. 🙈
the "change the physics by chatting" part is what gets me, that's the hard half of this. generating a playable game from a description once is impressive but a solved problem at this point, letting someone mutate the rules mid-build without the thing falling apart or losing what you already liked about it is the actual product. curious whether edits are additive on top of a save state or whether a big enough change just regenerates the game fresh and you lose your progress
I feel game night is totally changed after this. Now its not about playing games anymore, game night is now about making games 😸
This is fun. My partner creates tabletop games, and there's one that I think deserves to be digital! This might be good for a trial.
Google just launched Playground, and this looks pretty fun.
You can describe a game idea in plain English, and Google's AI turns it into something you can actually play in your browser. Want to change the rules, characters, or physics? Just ask.
You can also share your games, publish them for others to play, and even create multiplayer experiences.
The interesting part is that Google is also working with Unity to bring more advanced game creation into Playground.
Curious to see what people come up with when making a game becomes this easy.
