Digital Transformation of Offshore Operations Smarter, Safer Decisions with Cloud–Based Seabed Information

Abstract Autonomous underwater survey systems are rapidly transforming offshore subsea operations by decoupling data acquisition from traditional vessel-intensive workflows and by enabling the capture, management, and exploitation of unprecedented volumes of high-density subsea data. This paper reviews the evolution of autonomous underwater survey vehicles (AUVs), describes the current state of the art in autonomous survey technology and subsea data management, and presents a forward-looking vision for how artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomy will reshape offshore oil and gas operations over the next 10–15 years. Particular emphasis is placed on integrated systems that combine autonomous robotics with cloud-native data platforms, exemplified by cloud platform technology, which enables scalable, repeatable, and data-centric subsea operations.
