Research Abstract & Technology Focus

Mobile health (mHealth) technologies have expanded cancer care, particularly in the context of rehabilitation, by enabling remote monitoring and support. The incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) strategies into these technologies has the potential to personalize interventions and support clinical decision-making. Therefore, it is necessary to review the evidence regarding the application of AI-based strategies in mHealth for cancer rehabilitation. However, in a preliminary search, no scoping or systematic reviews on this topic were identified, which justifies conducting a scoping review to assess the breadth of the available literature. This is a protocol for a scoping review, which will be conducted in accordance with the methodology proposed by the JBI (Aromataris et al., 2024) and reported in accordance with the PRISMA extension for scoping reviews (PRISMA-ScR) checklist (Tricco et al., 2018). This review aims to summarize the available evidence on the application of AI-based strategies in mHealth technologies designed for the rehabilitation of cancer patients. It is expected that the results obtained will provide insights for improving AI strategies applied to mHealth, as well as foster the development of technological innovations that enhance the quality and continuity of care in cancer rehabilitation. In addition, the results are also expected to help identify the limitations and potential of artificial intelligence strategies, in order to guide the development of more effective and personalized mobile health interventions.
