Scientific Literature STEM E-MODULE DEVELOPMENT WITH DEMONSTRATION MEDIA FOR LINEAR MOTION
Research Abstract & Technology Focus
This study aims to develop a STEM-based E-Practicum Module assisted by a line-follower robot demonstration to support junior high school students’ understanding of the concept of object motion. The study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D model, limited to the Development stage. A limited pilot test involving 30 seventh-grade students used a one-group pretest-posttest design. The results showed that the E-Practicum Module achieved a validity percentage of 91%, categorized as “highly valid,” and a readability score of 93%, categorized as “highly acceptable.” Students’ conceptual understanding improved after the implementation of the e-module, as indicated by an N-Gain score of 0.8696, categorized as “high.” Based on the measured indicators, the “identifying” indicator achieved the highest N-Gain value, while the “analyzing” indicator achieved the lowest N-Gain value. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of STEM-based laboratory activities with a line-follower robot demonstration within a single e-module to connect the concept of motion with physical phenomena that can be directly observed and measured. This integration provides a contextual learning experience that supports students in observing, measuring, and interpreting the concept of motion. The results of the study indicate that the developed E-Module for laboratory activities can be used as teaching material in the study of object motion in junior high school.
