Model path sharing/re-use across local AI applications.
Technical Positioning
Interoperability with existing local AI model ecosystems (LM Studio, oMLX) to enhance user convenience and reduce redundant downloads.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
Developers face friction from redundant model downloads and isolated local AI environments. Nativ's current model management lacks interoperability, forcing users to re-download models already present for other tools like LM Studio or oMLX. This creates a poor user experience, wastes storage, and increases setup time. Implementing shared model directories is critical for Nativ to integrate seamlessly into existing local AI workflows, reducing adoption barriers and positioning it as a more efficient, developer-friendly solution within the macOS MLX ecosystem. Failure to address this will limit Nativ's appeal to users already invested in other local model management tools.

missing existing models already shown in lmstudio and omlx
pls add an option
oMLX now has that option to specify an existing local path that already stores a lot of models. The way OMLX currently works is that it can specify the LM Studio model directory so that you don't have to download them repeatedly and they can share the MLX models.
Support for embedding models (e.g., BERT) and robust model loading.
Expanding model compatibility to include a broader range of AI model types beyond current limitations, ensuring reliable server operation.

Any model, or any bert model? Have you tried a non-bert model?

Hey @different55 It seems you want to load a embedding model, we are going to add support for it this week and should fix this issues > 2026-07-20 16:01:43,255 - ERROR - Error loading model google-...
Broadening macOS version compatibility (specifically macOS Sequoia/15).
Maximizing user reach and adoption within the Apple Silicon ecosystem by supporting a wider range of macOS versions, ensuring accessibility beyond the latest OS.
