Wireless CarPlay iAP2 handoff mechanism

Technical Positioning
Reliable, stable wireless CarPlay connectivity
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
This issue highlights a critical failure in DiPlay's wireless CarPlay handoff protocol, specifically the iAP2 tunnel readiness. The consistent 45-second timeout after `disableBluetooth` indicates a fundamental communication breakdown post-authentication, preventing the stable establishment of the CarPlay session. Despite initial audio/video functionality, the system cannot transition to the persistent iAP2 tunnel, forcing repeated disconnections and reconnections. This directly impacts user experience, rendering wireless CarPlay unusable. The problem points to either an incompatibility with specific iOS versions (iOS 17.0) or Android head unit configurations (Android 12/13, OPPO), or a core flaw in DiPlay's implementation of the iAP2 handoff sequence. Market implications include significant user frustration and reduced adoption for wireless functionality until this core stability issue is resolved.

[Bug]Wireless CarPlay disconnects every 45 seconds due to iAP2 handoff timeout despite working audio/video

### DiPlay version

0.2.7

### Car and head-unit model

Head Unit / Android 12; OPPO Phone / Android 13

### iPhone model and exact iOS version

iPhone15,3; iOS 17.0

### Connection

Wireless

### What happened and how to reproduce it

@shihabal3amri I can reproduce the same issue on **DiPlay 0.2.7**, with logs showing three consecutive 45-second handoff timeouts.

**Environment**
- Receiver: OPPO PDEM10, Android 13 / API 33
- Connection: Wireless, Wi-Fi Direct, 2.4 GHz
- iPhone identifier reported in the log: `iPhone15,3`
- Exact iOS version: iOS 17.0

**Observed behavior**

Authentication succeeds and audio/video playback starts normally. After the iPhone sends `disableBluetooth`, DiPlay waits for the tunneled iAP2 connection to become ready. It never reaches that state in the captured log.

Each attempt times out almost exactly 45 seconds later:

- Attempt 1: handoff requested at 09:47:43.309; timeout at 09:48:28.306 — **44.997 seconds**.
- Attempt 2: handoff requested at 09:48:39.025; timeout at 09:49:24.022 — **44.997 seconds**.
- Attempt 3: handoff requested at 09:49:36.778; timeout at 09:50:21.789 — **45.011 seconds**.

The log consistently reports:

```text
handoffRequested=true tunnelReady=false wirelessActive=false
wireless handoff timed out waiting for tunnel iAP2 readiness
```

This is followed by the connection closing and an automatic reconnect after 2 seconds:

```text
AirPlay session ended; reconnecting from scratch
AirPlay session ended; retrying in 2000ms
Using an iPhone 13 Pro running OS 17.7.2, the same issue was also encountered on a Dlink 4.0 (9.0), a vivo 2405A (15), and a Redmi K50 (12). By the way, I was using the car head unit's hotspot.
