Layer selection logic in composition view

Technical Positioning
Intuitive, context-aware user experience for layer interaction; industry-standard selection behavior
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
This bug highlights a fundamental UX flaw in effectcraft's composition interaction. The current 'topmost layer' selection behavior, regardless of existing selection, deviates significantly from expected industry standards in visual editing software. This creates immediate friction for users attempting precise layer manipulation, forcing inefficient workarounds. The proposed solution—prioritizing selected layers and then the topmost—is a standard pattern. Failure to implement this basic interaction correctly indicates a foundational immaturity in the UI/UX, directly impacting user productivity and adoption, particularly for users accustomed to professional-grade tools. This is a critical usability defect requiring immediate resolution to prevent user frustration and abandonment.

[Bug] Incorrect layer selection

Right now, no matter what is the selection, upon clicking/dragging a layer in the composition view the topmost layer is selected.
The UX should be: when no layer is selected, click should select the topmost layer, when there are layers selected, give priority to the selected layers, then the rest.

Ah ok, normally the color menu opens when you click the "8 bpc" button in the corner under the files list. In this implementation the button just toggles to 16 or 32 bit. It would be better if this...
