RTX 2080S (mobile) display stability issues on macOS 15.7.8 with driver 1.0.11, specifically dGPU-connected displays turning black after 90 seconds.
Technical Positioning
Achieving sustained, stable display output for dGPU-connected monitors on mobile platforms.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
The issue of dGPU-connected displays turning black after 90 seconds, leaving only a white cursor, on an RTX 2080S mobile platform with driver 1.0.11, indicates a severe stability problem. The fact that the iGPU-connected display remains functional suggests a specific failure within the NVIDIA driver's display output pipeline or power management for the dGPU. This renders the primary display outputs unusable for professional tasks. For B2B SaaS, such a critical failure after a short operational period makes the driver unsuitable for any sustained workflow, severely limiting its market applicability for mobile workstation users. This demands immediate attention to dGPU display stability and power state transitions.

[Bug] A51MR2 (i9-10900K / RTX 2080S): dGPU-connected displays turn black with only white cursor after ~90s on macOS 15.7.8 (driver 1.0.11), while iGPU Type-C output works
Hello. I currently have a laptop configured with Alienware 51MR2-10900K-2080S. After installing driver 1.0.11, booting is normal. The laptop’s internal screen directly connected to the discrete GPU and the HDMI external 4K 60Hz monitor work normally. The Type-C external 4K 60Hz monitor via the UHD 630 also works normally. However, after booting normally into macOS 15.7.8, at around 90 seconds, all monitors connected to the discrete GPU go black, with only a white cursor appearing. The external monitor on the Type-C connected to the integrated GPU remains normal. Please, expert, take time out of your busy schedule to help solve this. Thank you very much.
