Local index encryption, data security at rest.
Raw Developer Origin & Technical Request

DigUp's SQLite index contains file paths, metadata, and extracted text. The current implementation does not appear to encrypt the index at the application level ([index schema](github.com/ARahim3/DigUp/blo... [database](github.com/ARahim3/DigUp/blo...
Please consider an optional at-rest encryption mode, enabled by the user and protected by a passphrase or another user-authenticated key, so a copied or stolen index cannot be read without the key. Please evaluate the best implementation rather than assuming a particular backend, including an SQLite-compatible encryption layer versus another encrypted store.
Key derivation and storage, fast unlock, indexing and search performance, SQLite WAL/SHM and temporary files, migration of existing indexes, and recovery or reset if the key is lost all need consideration. Encrypted mode should not leave a persistent plaintext index beside the protected one.
This protects a closed or locked index at rest; it cannot protect content while DigUp is unlocked or the account is compromised.
