Technical Positioning
High-fidelity, artifact-free game rendering, maintaining visual integrity even under dynamic camera conditions. The goal is accurate depth perception and rendering.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
This issue reports 'Z-fighting' artifacts on distant surfaces, which become more pronounced with fast camera movement. This indicates a depth buffer precision problem, a common rendering challenge where two or more polygons occupy the same depth space, causing visual flickering. The correlation with camera speed suggests potential issues with level-of-detail (LOD) transitions, dynamic object culling, or floating-point precision limitations in the depth buffer implementation. For a B2B SaaS product in the game recompilation space, rendering fidelity is paramount. Such visual artifacts detract significantly from the user experience and signal underlying technical debt in the graphics pipeline. Addressing Z-fighting often requires careful management of depth ranges, polygon ordering, or adjusting depth buffer bit-depth, which are critical for delivering a polished, professional visual output.

Z-fighting on distant surfaces when camera is moving fast.

The faster the camera moves, the more noticable the Z-fighting artifacts becomes.

Hey ! Did you fully pre-compile shaders before launching the new release ? If yes, please attach below your savagewind.log If not on the Alpha 3, please try it.
Sandbowl • Oct 25, 2026
Hello. Yes this was running with pre-compiled shaders. Here's the log file (I made a typo when renaming the directory, it is alpha 3 😅): [savagewind.log](https://github.com/user-attachments/files/33928551/savagewind.log)

Thanks for the video and the log, @Sandbowl. We tried to reproduce this on the current test build (game 1.9.0, Shadow resolution Extreme), turning the camera fast on the Great Plateau toward the distant cliffs and the tower, and the flicker doesn't show up anymore. A few things changed since the build you used and could explain it: - Your log shows game version 1.8.2. Savage Wind now supports 1.9.0 only. - With Shadow resolution above Console, Alpha 3 gave terrain, grass and water their shadows from a copy at the console's resolution. They now use the full-resolution shadows , . - Alpha 4 also starts each release with fresh shader caches. Could you check again on Alpha 4 with the game on 1.9.0 when it's out? If it still happens, a new savagewind.log and the settings you used would help a lot. We'll keep this open until then.

Sure, I'll make sure to load a save with this cutscene to replicate it.

@Sandbowl Alpha 4 is out: https://github.com/Revivedx/SavageWindRecomp/releases/tag/v0.4.0-alpha.4. Please give it a try and tell us here how it goes, with the `savagewind.log` of that run if the problem is still there.

The same thing happened to me when I downloaded the new version. Since this didn't occur in the old version, I think it's worth testing it here to see what happens. If it works with the previous ve...

Thanks for the very complete report, and to everyone confirming! We can't reproduce this on NVIDIA (also not with the Vulkan validation layer, which reports nothing), so it looks specific to the AM...

version 1.8.2, but i was trying to find the 1.9.0 update, without success. But if it faild even with 1.9.0 it is useless to search for it, isn't it?

I managed to get it work. I've created a new folder called "Zelda", inside it i put 2 new folders "exefs" and "romfs" where i've extracted the game's files. Then i've started the configuration and ...
