Gemini Executive Synthesis
Eglantine emulator's development platform choice (GitHub) and legal vulnerability to DMCA claims.
Technical Positioning
Maintaining legal defensibility and operational continuity for an experimental emulator project against corporate legal action.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
This discussion highlights significant legal and operational risks for open-source projects operating in legally contentious domains, specifically emulator development. The core pain point is the perceived vulnerability of hosting such projects on platforms like GitHub, which are susceptible to DMCA takedowns. Developers are seeking strategies for legal defensibility, including mirroring repositories on independent `git forge` instances and understanding the nuances of intellectual property law regarding reverse engineering. The debate over Yuzu and Ryujinx cases demonstrates a community grappling with legal precedents and corporate enforcement tactics. Market implications include a demand for decentralized or legally robust hosting solutions for high-risk projects, and a need for clear guidance on legal boundaries in open-source development to ensure project continuity and mitigate legal threats.

Repo: Djihads80/Eglantine
Why is this on GitHub? You're gonna get DMCA'd by Nintendo you fucking idiot.
### Issue
See title. Self host your own fucking git forge if you're gonna work on something like this, don't put it on GitHub and then be shocked when Nintendo inevitably DMCAs the fuck out of it lol.
Developer Debate & Comments

No, I'm saying that the main development itself shouldn't be on GitHub lmao
If the repo is synced as a mirror, then development can continue on the mirror without problems at any time. Besides, Yuzu got DMCA'd because they blatantly admited to piracy by pushin TotK commits a week before TotK's release. Ryujinx wasn't attacked, instead they were offered money to stop, and they accepted. Emulation was made a consumer right of reverse engineer on Sony vs Connectix on 1999. No one can take an emulator down just for being an emulator ever since, not even Nintendo, which is why Yuzu and Ryujinx have had a place since the Nintendo Switch's year 1 of launch. Unless Eglantine admits to piracy, or Nintendo offers an amount of money that persuades them to stop, this is not stopping. Before calling anyone an idiot, get your story straight.
While we are on this topic, of gitHub can a developer put Eglantine on the Quiver Launcher so it's easier to maintain updates among the community

They have literally been DMCAing all yuzu and ryujinx forks since you dumb motherfucker.

Attach the log file so I can check out that issue. We'll be getting some updates for the experimental AMD build today.
Same GPU here, RX 5700 (RDNA 1) on Windows 11 / MSVC 19.44, build-96 lineage (base `feff94e` + local fixes) — and the race intro does **not** crash, so it is probably not the RDNA 1 driver by itsel...

Found the exact trigger, and a correction to the description. **Trigger:** it closes when I skip the pre-race intro sequence (the cutscene shown before the race) and the game tries to go to the ne...
One more setting I forgot to mention: I changed the System setting for the emulated memory size from the default (4 GB) to 8 GB (the log shows `Core.memory_layout_mode: Memory_8Gb` for the run tha...
Two of the three symptoms here I have reproduced on an 8 GB AMD card (RX 5700, RDNA 1, Windows 11, Vulkan), and there are patches open for both. Details so you can match them against your runs. **1...

Take your game off of accurate mode, it's a side effect of using that
Yep, that did it. Now there's like some kind of white tint over the gameplay (not during the cutsecenes and dialogues tho), but idk if I should report that as a bug or if is an expected side effect...

I have the same problem except that in-game the problems from the preview are also present, but only on my Xbox elite controller (wired and Bluetooth), the problem is not there with my PS5 controller.
> in-game the problems from the preview are also present Just found that out too
yeap the new version has messed up the controller support somehow, same with xbox controller, go use an older version
