Markant, a dedicated Markdown reader, and Markbook, a new format for bundling Markdown files and images.

Technical Positioning
A fast, dedicated Markdown viewer optimized for large documents and LLM outputs, introducing Markbook as a Markdown-based ePub alternative.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
Markant addresses a growing need for specialized Markdown rendering, particularly as LLMs increasingly generate content in this format. Traditional code editors are suboptimal for viewing extensive, formatted Markdown. Its ability to handle large documents without performance degradation and prepare content for print/PDF directly targets a professional use case for documentation and content publishing. The introduction of Markbook, a Markdown-based ePub alternative, is a strategic move to standardize bundling of Markdown content and assets. This innovation simplifies content creation and distribution workflows, especially for AI-generated long-form content, and could establish a new standard for lightweight, easily editable digital publications, appealing to technical writers and content platforms.

Show HN: Markant – A Dedicated Markdown Reader

With Markdown being the standard output for many LLMs I needed a way to view them outside the usual code editors. Markant is a no nonsense viewer, that also prepares markdown for print and PDF. It supports very large documents, like books, without any speed penalty.
Along the way I realized that it would be nice with a Markdown version of ePub, where multiple markdown files along with images could be bundled. That is now a new format called Markbook - markbooks.org that is easy for anyone, including AI to write.
