Muesli – open source on-device speech-to-text app
Technical Positioning
A one-stop, open-source, on-device speech-to-text application for voice dictation and meeting transcriptions, leveraging Apple Neural Engine with CoreML-based STT models (Parakeet, Whisper, Cohere transcribe).
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
Muesli offers an open-source, on-device speech-to-text solution, leveraging Apple Neural Engine for local processing. This directly addresses enterprise concerns regarding data privacy and compliance, as sensitive audio data remains on the user's device, avoiding cloud transmission. For B2B, this capability is critical for secure meeting transcriptions, confidential dictation, and real-time voice command interfaces in regulated industries. The use of established STT models like Whisper and Cohere transcribe, combined with an open-source model, fosters trust and allows for customization. This positions Muesli as a foundational component for privacy-centric, high-performance local AI applications.

this is now making me hungry
very cool - going to try this out today
love the sly name!
How are you handling the on device speech pipeline, especially around model size, latency, and accuracy tradeoffs on consumer hardware?
Looking for something like this. An OSS on device version where I can store transcripts as markdowns in my file system.
Finally something that works local and feels polished!
