Research Abstract & Technology Focus

This article explores the management of hospital waste, specifically healthcare risk waste (HCRW) and non-hazardous healthcare waste (NHCW). Our study focuses on a hospital in western France, considered as a reference facility, and underlines the specific issues it faces. The methodological approach taken is based on a qualitative case study, providing a thorough understanding of waste management, risk analysis and traceability processes. Data were collected via interviews, direct observations and a test audit to assess regulatory compliance. The goal of this research is to analyse current practices and to provide recommendations for HCRW and NHCW management and traceability.
