DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on AMD GPUs. Specifically, achieving playable frame rates (30-34fps) at 720p with 2x lossless scaling on an RX 7900 XT.

Technical Positioning
The project aims to enable AMD GPU users to leverage NVIDIA's DLSS 5 Neural Rendering technology, positioning itself as a performance enhancement solution for AMD hardware. The goal is to achieve 'playable testable level' performance, demonstrating viability and artifact-free scaling.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
This update signifies a critical milestone for the DLSS-NR-on-AMD project: achieving a 'playable testable level' of 30-34 FPS at 720p with 2x lossless scaling on an RX 7900 XT. This demonstrates the project's capability to deliver tangible performance improvements for AMD users seeking DLSS 5 functionality. The absence of artifacts is crucial for user acceptance. While 720p is not a high-end resolution, reaching this benchmark validates the core premise and opens avenues for further optimization and broader adoption. The market implication is clear: AMD users are actively seeking solutions to bridge the feature gap with NVIDIA's proprietary technologies, indicating a strong demand for cross-platform rendering enhancements.

7900xt update: 34fps reached !

Lossless scalling 2x unlocked! No artifacts. 720p works in 30-34fps. Great, it's already playable testable level. Great improvement, 2x for me with lossless. Will try to record YouTube vid.

All details work correctly. Still need to start turned off but can turn off after relaunch in main menu. 35fps seen. Video recorded. Bravo! That's wonderful gain. https://youtu.be/OgjpvwRZi9I?is=4K5aWqi3-SSIhX7J https://youtu.be/OgjpvwRZi9I?is=A7zQu_f512pAjTnf

hmm very nice. Can you describe a detailed config. Which release version u used which dlss file you used whats your settings and also maybe a log file. Would be interesting. The main thing what bothers me right now is i ve to set mode window mode not full screen if not, the performance isnt worth mentionable. Have i understood it right that you use two mods. The dlss amd mod and lossless scalling ? For what ? i mean you can use mfg with amd native tech no need for less scaling
michalhojwa • Sep 7, 2026
2.15 for DLSS NR on AMD. Config is default and the only difference is what's seen on video. DLSS files from Ancient gameplays Fabio YouTube vid. I'm using lossless scalling both ways: to 2x FG and then to stretch to full screen with fsr1. No ingame FG. Remember to turn on dlss nr ingame, then lossless 2x. Instructions: copy 2 dll files copy exe remove all optiscaler mods. run exe, pick right options. version.dll should appear menu should appear after hitting End button BTW, added video with skin tones (above).

tried it out works fine, so its playable but faaaar away from enjoyable. The thing is we are not gonna get jobs in 10 -20 ms in Full HD. Which means performance increase by 4times, which is needed to make it enjoyable. The thing is the rdna3 lacks in ai cores. Also the author of the project seems to focus on the rdna4 cards which makes sence. I think the rdna4 could reach 10- 20 ms in 4k at least the 9070 XT with improving the NR pipeline. But for the rdna3 series no way. Theoretically i thing its also possible for the rnd3 cards, but with a complete new pipeline NR, probably through int8 but then it needs complete new modeler new quantization. To be fair its too much of an effort and you to have a top engineer team

I agree - playable but not yet enjoyable. I can see 4x happening this year. Main wins I can see as tester of this mod are: 1. unlock lossless scaling adaptive - if Lossless could multiply by 3 or 4 then it should already be close to 100fps on 720p. 2. if optiscaler integration was possble then could try to use AMD FGx4-x6 and immediately lock on 120. 3. Optiscaler mod has more options, like setting DLSS NR res to 50%. 4. If AI slop filter could be applied on native res, before upscaling, then we could do even 4k FSR up (720p native), let FSR4 do the rest. Fingers crossed Daniel can Improve some more. I've seen the mod on 900p (20fps with lossless), recorded on the same chanel, the difference is big.
