Gemini Executive Synthesis
New tab/window behavior and sidebar visibility.
Technical Positioning
User customization for core browsing actions (new tab, omnibox interaction) and UI elements (sidebar). The product aims to offer flexible and efficient navigation, potentially with "zen-like" features.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
This discussion reveals a desire for more nuanced control over new tab and window behavior, moving beyond the current `Cmd+T` implementation which forces immediate tab switching. Users are seeking a "zen-like" experience, implying a preference for non-disruptive workflows and greater flexibility in managing their browsing context. The distinction between `Cmd+T` and `Cmd+L` (omnibox) highlights a need for distinct actions that don't always overwrite the current view. Offering a configurable option for new tab behavior would address a clear user pain point regarding workflow interruption. This aligns with a strategy of providing a highly customizable and efficient browser experience, a key differentiator in the competitive B2B SaaS browser market. The mention of `Cmd+S` for sidebar control indicates ongoing efforts to enhance UI flexibility.

More opinionated thought, but...
Currently, when opening a new browser window, it opens to a blank page with no background.
Would be very cool to have this zen-like feature where you could just do the cmd+t keybind and open the tab easily, or also just cancel if you didn't want to switch. This is different from cmd+l which overwrites the current window
Would be very cool!
PS: is there a way to hide the sidebar? ty!
