Gemini Executive Synthesis

Displaying site security information (SSL/TLS certificate details).

Technical Positioning
Adherence to standard browser security indicators and user transparency regarding connection security. The product needs to provide essential security feedback comparable to mainstream browsers.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
The absence of a clear site security indicator, like a lock icon, represents a significant functional gap for `Search`. Users rely on these visual cues to quickly ascertain connection security and access detailed certificate information. This omission creates user uncertainty regarding data privacy and site authenticity, a critical concern in any browsing environment. For a B2B SaaS browser, failing to provide standard security transparency can be a deal-breaker, particularly for organizations with strict compliance or security policies. It signals a lack of maturity in fundamental browser features, potentially hindering enterprise adoption where trust and verifiable security are paramount. Implementing this feature is not merely an enhancement but a foundational requirement for credibility.

Raw Developer Origin & Technical Request

Repo: driceroland/Search
Site Information: is this connection actually secure?

A lock icon usually answers this with a click - Search has nothing like it. A tab's right-click menu could offer Site Information…: whether the connection is encrypted and the certificate checks out, who it was issued to, who issued it, and until when.

Good catch, but they don't fully overlap: 's site card only shows connection security when the optional address bar above the page is on (sidebar mode, off by default), and stops at valid/invalid. This issue's fix puts Site Information… on every tab's right-click menu regardless of that setting, and adds issued to, issued by, and the expiry date, not just a valid/invalid check. Worth keeping both: for the quick glance when that bar is on, this one for everyone else.

I'm also having this issue with the extensions menu in the bottom left of the tab bar (with vertical tabs) as well. When I go to pin/click on an extension, the popover closes.

This appears to only be occurring when the sidebar is hidden / in the open on hover state.
