Gemini Executive Synthesis
Find-in-page functionality (Cmd+F) focus behavior.
Technical Positioning
Standard browser shortcut behavior and user experience (UX) expectations. The product aims for efficiency and a native-like macOS experience.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
This issue highlights a critical UX flaw in the `Search` browser's `Cmd+F` implementation. Users expect immediate input focus upon activating find-in-page, a fundamental browser interaction. The current behavior, where focus defaults to the back button or requires a double press, introduces significant friction and undermines the efficiency promised by a "small, fast" browser. The intermittent nature, triggered by actions like opening extension popups, suggests a complex state management or event handling bug. This directly impacts user productivity and trust in the application's core functionality. For a B2B SaaS browser, such inconsistencies erode perceived reliability and can deter adoption, especially when competing with established, polished alternatives. Resolving this is paramount for maintaining a competitive user experience.

Cmd+F doesn't focus the search input — focuses the back button instead
## What
When pressing cmd+F to open find-in-page, focus goes to the back button instead of the search input field. The find-in-page bar does appear, but I have to manually click into it before I can start typing.
## Why
The expectation when hitting cmd+F is that the input is immediately ready to type into. Having to click the search field defeats the point of the shortcut and adds unnecessary friction every time.
## Scope
Affects: find-in-page triggered via cmd+F
Environment: Mac OS 27 / Search v1.0.1
