Gemini Executive Synthesis

Game launch stability and GPU compatibility for specific hardware generations.

Technical Positioning
Delivering a 'SteamOS experience' on Android, implying broad game compatibility across a range of Android hardware, or clear delineation of supported hardware.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
This issue exposes a significant hardware compatibility limitation for DroidDeck, specifically with older Adreno 6xx series GPUs like the Adreno 620 (Snapdragon 765G). While the Steam client initializes, games consistently fail to launch, crashing or silently terminating. Extensive troubleshooting, including driver and Proton compatibility layer variations, yielded no resolution. The user's direct question regarding 'missing Vulkan feature set / older Turnip support' on Adreno 6xx series indicates a potential architectural blocker for broader device support. This severely restricts the addressable market to newer, high-end Android devices, limiting DroidDeck's reach. Clear communication on minimum GPU requirements and explicit support for older Adreno generations is critical for managing user expectations and market positioning.

Google Pixel 5: Games fail to launch

### Device Details
- **Device:** Google Pixel 5 (`redfin`)
- **SoC:** Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G
- **GPU:** Adreno 620
- **RAM:** 8 GB LPDDR4x
- **OS / Android Version:** Android 14 (Stock / Build: UP1A.231105.001.B2)
- **App Version:** DroidDeck v0.2.0

### Description
I am trying to run games via DroidDeck on a spare Google Pixel 5. While the Steam client initializes properly, games fail to launch completely.

Even lightweight 2D / low-overhead titles do not boot:
- *Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection*
- *Cuphead*

### Troubleshooting Steps Attempted
- **GPU Drivers:** Tested default drivers as well as legacy/older Turnip and system driver profiles.
- **Compatibility Layers:** Tested default Proton as well as various custom/GE-Proton builds.
- **Process Management:** Verified child process / phantom process restrictions in Developer Options.

### Observed Behavior
Pressing "Play" attempts to start the process, but the game crashes or silently terminates before rendering any window, returning back to the library screen.

### Questions / Notes for Maintainers
I understand that DroidDeck targets modern hardware (Adreno 7xx/8xx) with Turnip driver support. Is the Adreno 620 (Snapdragon 765G) expected to work, or is the missing Vulkan feature set / older Turnip support on Adreno 6xx series currently a known blocker?

I'm experiencing the same issue on my Redmi K60 with Snapdragon 8+ gen 1. I've tried adjusting many settings like you suggested, but it hasn't helped.

Hmm perhaps because of this "Use Android 9 or newer on a supported Adreno device (730 or newer, or 8xx)."

> Hmm perhaps because of this "Use Android 9 or newer on a supported Adreno device (730 or newer, or 8xx)." My phone runs Android 15 and meets the requirements, but it still won't launch; it seems there are still some unknown issues. In Bannerlator, I can still run the Steam client, but I can't seem to find a place to add non-Steam games. This is a great project that makes it easy for me to do that, and I hope to experience it soon.

I have aonly been able to get one game to launch thus far (Absolute Drift) Device: Lenovo Idea Pad 2 Processor: Snapdragon® 8s Gen 4 (SM8735P) Mobile Platform Graphics: Qualcomm® Adreno™ 825

This issue is mixing a few different cases, so it may be easier to split it so each one gets its own logs and fix: - @brunocalmon, Pixel 5 (Adreno 620): this looks like , same GPU family (Adreno 6xx, below the tested hardware) and Unity games failing (Cuphead is Unity). Please follow and try the steps there on the latest version and report there with logs. - @Furina-imw, Redmi K60 (Adreno 730): that's supported hardware, so if nothing launches it's a different problem. Could you open a new issue with the game you tried and the newest session folder from Download/DroidDeck (zipped; it's written when the session ends)? But FIRST, could please try default settings of the latest release? - @bradsour, Adreno 825: since one game works and others don't, it's probably game-specific. A separate issue per game, with its session folder, makes each one easier to fix. But FIRST, could please try default settings of the latest release? Please use the latest version first; a lot of launc...

I'm on the same boat, it seems to detect the controller (because it shows up the touch controlls if I disconnect it in the quick settings menu), but it doesn't respond to any kind of input

i hope it gets fixed because im hopeful for this emulator
