Gemini Executive Synthesis
Configuration management and secret handling for environment variables.
Technical Positioning
Providing a secure, flexible, and well-documented configuration environment for an AI-driven video generation tool.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
This issue highlights a critical documentation gap for Reelmimic's `REELMIMIC_SECRETS` environment variable override. This 'escape hatch' for managing sensitive keys, crucial for deployment flexibility, remains undocumented, discoverable only through source code inspection. This lack of transparency forces developers to reverse-engineer configuration options, increasing friction for advanced deployments and potentially leading to insecure practices if users are unaware of proper secret management. The market implication is reduced enterprise adoption or integration difficulty for teams requiring robust, documented secret management strategies. Explicitly documenting this override in the README and `secrets.example.json` is essential for improving developer experience and promoting secure, scalable deployments.

Document the REELMIMIC_SECRETS override
Found this by accident in `app/server/env.ts:11`:
process.env.REELMIMIC_SECRETS || process.env.CLONE_STUDIO_SECRETS || ~/.reelmimic/secrets.json
That is a useful escape hatch — keep keys in a synced folder, or give a machine its own path — and it is invisible unless you read the server source. The Settings table lists every other key; this one deserves the same treatment.
## Suggested fix
One row in the README table (and a mention in `secrets.example.json`).
